Safety Tips for Cleaning A Home For Sale

Education & Training with Joseph Doohan

If you are thinking about selling your home, it is important that you clean out the house and tidy it to make it look respectable and appealling to potential customers. In this post I am going to provide you with some health and safety tips for cleaning.

Using cleaning chemicals and not using proper protective equipment can cause hazards, and that is the last thing you need to worry about as you attempt to sell your property.

Use proper personal protective equipment

If you do not have them already, invest in protective equipment such as eyewear and gloves. They are a small investment to protect your eyes and hands. As you use chemicals like cleaning agents or weedkiller, it is very important that you protect yourself against such acidic products that can potentially cause major harm.

Read instructions for cleaning agents

If you use cleaning products that you have not used before, you should read the instructions before using. If you use  a chemical cleaning product with your bare hands without reading the instructions, you should find you get acid burns from the cleaning agent.

Also, take note of the surface areas that chemical cleaning agents an be used on. You do not want to use a cleaner on your oven, that causes corrosion or a liquid that causes discoloration. There is nothing worse than damaging items that you hoped would be included in the sale or worse having to replace appliances as a result of negligence.

Make others aware of where you are cleaning

Perhaps you have a family member or a friend helping you with the clean up. It is so important to make people aware of where you are cleaning to avoid trips, slips and falls as a result of wet floors, cleaning equipment and cables. For this situation, communication is very important in order to stay safe during your cleaning operation.

Consider taking a cleaning course

Want to save money rather than hiring a cleaning company? Maybe you want to start a cleaning business of your own and want to use your home as a tester? Consider doing a certified cleaning course to help make you more aware of the dangers involved in cleaning, while also learning how to clean any area thoroughly and professionally.

Do you have cleaning tips of your own? If you feel free to drop your comments below. I like to learn from others and i hope you have learned something valuable from this post today.
