The Past Decade The Rome Way

Looking back over the last ten years, In some ways, it has flown by in others it has been like pouring frozen molasses.

Margaret Rome Ten Years

 I had just left the big box company after eighteen years and started an auction company for REALTORS®  It was a great idea, a lot of fun, a lot of hard work but in that one year I knew it was just not for me. It did teach me how to get to the seller's bottom line.

 ==

In the past ten years,

Open House Master and ActiveRain Open House were filmed.

Anna Banana Kruchten, another Master reminded me of that today.

The First ActiveRain Open House is history but preserved thanks to REALTOR Magazine forever. It was a two-day marathon, and from all that time and filming, they boiled it down to about 7 minutes of video!

Check it out. You'll see some familiar faces in the video

 ==

 In 2009 I got my brokers license and started HomeRome Realty! Well not exactly according to my clients...you see they thought it was already HomeRome. That is the power of branding. The only change...remove the big box logo from my ads. Pretty simple adjustment, I was already working from my home office.

 ==

By the way, this is for Jeff Dowler, CRS and I see this could wind up being pretty wordy. And it's not going to be in any order.

 ==

Ten years ago, I had already been blogging for several years and very much involved with this community. Way back then I was talking to at least one member every day. And that hasn't changed.

ActiveRome

 ==

In the past decade, there have been many new clients, some incredible unusual and unique properties, and quite a few repeat clients.

unique homes

 ==

In the past decade, I have continued to go to the gym three times a week with my favorite trainer John Vargo. And recently added an hour of pilates to my schedule.

==

In the past decade, I have hosted  ALL ABOUT REAL ESTATE my weekly live radio show, and I have only missed one show in six years.

==

In the past ten years, I have been owned by my Phoebe.

Five years ago, I lost  My Lee and am very thankful for the beautiful years we had together.

==

How lucky to have my beautiful daughter living within a mile from my home. We talk text and or get together every day.

 ==

 Bob Stewart interviewed a few years ago.

==

In the past decade, I have earned an MCNE designation-Master Certification Negotiation Expert.

MCNE

 ==

 In the past decade, I have had some good publicity

 Read about the latest.

 ==

 I have been meeting monthly with my group of women business owners. We share friendship, socialization, and dinner. This group has been together even before real estate.

==

Every Saturday evening, for the past four years, my best friend Karen and I have gotten together for our Saturday night date. Our daily texts would make a fabulous sitcom.

KC and Me

  ==

In the past several years, I have done a rehab on my home, starting with what most would call an office.  To me, it is my Command Center, and I love being right here at my desk. There is a wall of windows to watch the changing seasons, and I can even wave to the mail carrier each day.  I love my one of a kind desk, vertical storage, plenty of cabinets, shelving, functional workspace, and heated floors under my desk.

My Desk

==

In the past year and a half, I had a total knee replacement, ouch! Ten days later, I was showing properties and did not miss a radio show!

==

If I had more time, I could write a lot more, but the contest deadline is here

 Thanks, Jeff Dowler for the opportunity to recap part of the last decade.

Hi Margaret,

I noticed that your post has been featured and on the ActiveRain Daily Drop and couldn't pass up the opportunity to add my sentiments about your extraordinary career. Just as an update, I made the decision to retire from Real Estate June 1st to persue my awakened  interest in Travel and Photography. I did well in real estate and it has provided for me a future of security and well being and will always be a passion.

I have been referring all my past clients to a local agent that sees life and the business the same way I did and the most ethical and experienced person I know. No referral fees involved.

I actually had written an update post but did not post it. One day I may just log on and write again about the 30 years of such a wonderful and rewarding career.

I will give the newbies here these words of advise: Build your career one person at a time along with all their personal sphere of friends, family and neighbors. Make every client feel like the only client you have and always give more than you are being paid. Make them your client for the rest of your working life. When you retire , you will be content.

Amazing how agead of the market you were on so many levels. And that desk!! I inspected a log home years ago that had a similar setup but it was the bar behind the kitchen sink cabinets. She actually incorporated an actual Jack Daniels barrel into the design.

William Johnson So happy that you are pursuing your love of photography and travel. The RE industry will miss a fabulous agent but you have made your mark on so many people over the years. Love how you have found that one special person to share your business referrals. And always good advice to the newbies. Hope that your travels might bring you to the Baltimore area.

And when you are ready I would love to read your version of the last thirty years. Be well and happy!

So funny but, my comment was going to be SO much like Dorie Dillard CRS GRI ABR's that it's scary! The only thing I was going to add is it's so nice to put a face to our conversations about Karen - she's beautiful! I love that you have her and that she has you; how blessed you both are, Margaret!

Debe Maxwell, CRS She is beautiful inside an out and has more courage and stamina in her pinky than anyone else I have ever known! Would love to talk with you and catch up...even though I know we are both wonderfully busy.

Let me know when you have a few minutes.
