More Saturday Smiles: Have you Met or Tasted a Cherum?

By

Cherums are stone fruits created through a natural cross between a cherry and a plum. They are botanically classified as Prunus salicina x P. avium. The hybrids were first developed by the same breeders who created of the pluot and the aprium. Cherums exhibit more of the cherry characteristics, whereas fruits with more plum-like characteristics are called ‘plerries.’

Happy Saturday, Ron and Alexandra- I think I saw them advertised at our local grocer yesterday but they must have been out. I couldn't find them.

Hello Alexandra and Ron - new to me but I will try if the opportunity is there and I remember this introduction in your post.  I recently(within the last year or so) "discovered" pomegranates.  That's a fruit that involves some time to eat...not a quick bite.

They look wonderful, Alexandra.  When I first read the title line however, I thought it read, "Have you met or tasted a CHERUB."

First I ever heard of this fruit, Alexandra... but as I love cherries and plum it sounds like it's right up my alley... now too bad I've never seen cherums for sale any where.

Oh no, sounds too much like those celeb couple pairings...you know Debbernie and Ronalexa. ;) If they are too sweet for you, not sure we'd like them either, but if I see them, we'll take a taste.
