I can’t believe it, but I’m already seeing back-to-school aisles in my local store. It feels like summer just started!
However, as I look at the calendar, I can’t deny that we’re more than halfway through the year. So, it’s time to start thinking about how to end the year strong as a Realtor®.
One of my favorite tools – in business and in life – is humor. Social media is a great place to flex your funny muscle, and we all love to celebrate. So on that note, let’s look at some playful and funny holidays that you can incorporate into your marketing for the rest of the year!
With July almost over, let’s dive right into the August holidays. Although you might enjoy using the International Day of Friendship on July 30th!
August 8th is International Cat Day. Share your favorite feline memes or photos with the hashtag #InternationalCatDay and invite your followers to do the same!
August 15th is National Relaxation Day, and the 16th is National Tell a Joke Day. Why not share your favorite silly joke on social media on August 16th and ask your followers to comment their favorite? Here’s one of mine to get you going: “What’s brown and sticky?” “A stick!”
August 19th is World Photo Day, so share your favorite photo. And in case you were afraid dogs got left out, August 26th is National Dog Day.
If you love to read, share your favorite book with your followers on Read a Book Day on September 6th. You can salute grandparents on National Grandparents Day on the 8th, and raise a cup of your favorite joe on National Coffee Day on September 29th.
September is also a month of remembrance, with the 11th being a National Day of Service and Remembrance. You can also celebrate the first day of Fall on September 23rd.
Who doesn’t love tacos? Celebrate your love on October 4th, National Taco Day. If tacos aren’t your thing, the 4th is also World Smile Day.
On October 14th you can share your favorite dessert with your followers in honor of National Dessert Day. You can even share an unusual way to make dessert, like using avocados to make chocolate pudding or making keto brownies.
Thursday October 17th is Get to Know Your Customers Day, so send a notecard to past and current clients? It can be a great reason to reach out and remind them who you are and that you’re available to serve them.
As the days get colder, we find ourselves ending daylight savings time on the 3rd. You can also share your favorite book with your followers for National Author’s Day on November 1st.
November 7th is National Tongue Twister Day, so work on your “She sells seashells on the seashore,” and ask followers to share their favorite tongue twister too! My personal favorite is “Aluminum linoleum.”
World Kindness Day is November 13th, so set up good deeds with your followers. Whether you invite everyone to pay for coffee for the car behind them or leave quarters in the change return at vending machines, you’ll feel great when you celebrate this holiday.
Of course, the end of November brings Thanksgiving, so don’t forget to get your holiday postcards ready in advance!
December 4th is National Cookie Day, another chance for you to share your favorite kind or recipe and ask followers to do the same.
You can raise a glass on December 5th in celebration of Repeal Day, when prohibition officially ended. International Children’s Day is the second Sunday in December, and December 14th is International Monkey Day.
December 16th is National Chocolate Covered Anything Day, so get some Raisinettes and celebrate! Of course, there’s Hanukkah, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve as well.
Have Fun With Your Marketing!
We love providing easy-to-use postcard templates so you can celebrate major holidays with your prospects. However, don’t overlook the fun of using these silly and offbeat holidays on social media or through the mail as well.
We all love a reason to celebrate – and to laugh!
What’s your favorite offbeat holiday? Share in the comments!
