Anna Banana Kruchten CRB, CRS 602-380-4886 has challenged us to write about Summer Fun in Our Town.  Being a golfer, I would be remiss if I didn't include a post about all the great golfing options available in the Wenatchee area. As many of you know, I have recently launched a new website for Senior Women Golfers.  If you haven't done so, I would love to have you subscribe by ordering my FREE Guide: 5 Ways To Quickly Lower Your Golf Score Without Lessons. After you sign up, you don't actually have to download the guide but it will subscribe you to be notified whenever I write a new post about my golf adventures.  I don't send junk emails. You will ONLY be notified when a new post is published.

Three Lakes Public Golf Course is where I am a member of the 18-Hole Ladies League.  We play every Thursday and many of us usually play at least one other day during the week and sometimes more. I love the camaraderie of the ladies league.  Each league day when we come in to sign in we draw a random playing card.  I play with the ladies that draw the same card number I did. This is a great way to mix it up and get an opportunity to play with all the members over time instead of playing with the same people each week.  Almost everyone sits down and has lunch together afterwards which is a lot of fun too.  I can always tell how well I am playing by how soon I start looking forward to lunch.  I say that but what I really mean is how soon I start thinking about when I can get in and order an adult beverage.  LOL

The Three Lakes Ladies League is also a member of the Apple Valley Women's Golf Association (AVWGA).  This is a group of ladies where the top 6 players from each of 8 regional teams get together once each month from April - October. We enjoy some friendly 2-person team match-play competition. We rotate locations each month and play a different team each month throughout the season.  This is a super fun way of getting to play different courses and meeting other ladies that enjoy golf as a lifestyle.  Members of the AVWGA include:
Three Lakes, Wenatchee Golf & Country Club, Leavenworth Golf Club, Lake Chelan Golf Course, Lakeview Golf & Country Club (Soap Lake, WA), Apple Tree (Yakima, WA), Yakima Elks Golf & Country Club, and Ellensburg Golf Course

Other than those I've mentioned, within a short drive of Wenatchee are Rock Island Golf Course, The Highlander (East Wenatchee), and Desert Canyon Golf Course

As you can see there are lots of golfing options in the Wenatchee area.  This is my second entry into the July Summer Fun Challenge.

Hi Carol Williams,

I grew up in a golfing family.  Our vacations were geared toward golf destinations such as Torrey Pines and Pebble Beach just to name two. When my dad became a vice-president of his company, he joined a prestigious country club in Louisville. Golf was his life and the rest of the family. One of my brothers has a single-digit handicap. So - yes!  It is a lifestyle!

Hi Sheri Sperry - MCNE®
I'm not in that kind of elite company when it comes to my golfing. I would like to play Pebble Beach once in my life just for the experience. I could probably afford that.

Hi Beth Atalay
Almost all my vacations are planned with some (or a lot) or golf. Some friends and I are cruising to Hawaii this Fall and there will be at least one round of golf when we dock.

OH my gosh, what a wonderful entry for this month's contest, Carol! Thank you so much for participating and sharing a little of your passion...and things to do for fun in your area.

I think I told you before that all of my family are/were avid golfers. I spent my summers at the club with my grandparents and found my passion at the pool - diving & swimming. I have and will always believe that those who continue to be active during retirement, live much longer and much more fulfilling lives. I see that in you, just as I saw it in my grandparents, who all lived long, happy lives - and golfing was their passion too!

Good morning, Debe Maxwell, CRS
Hope all is going well in Denver!  Will be watching for updates on FB.  I wasn't exposed to golf at all as a kid.  I started shortly after I moved to Wenatchee in the early 70's but didn't start playing in earnest until after Max & I were married. It was something we really enjoyed doing together, whether at home or traveling. We always took our clubs on road trips and once we checked into a hotel for the evening would go searching for a golf course. We'd usually play 9 holes then go have dinner.  Fun times!   Now, of course, it's me and my lady friends. I can't imagine life without it.  I hope to live a long life if I'm mentally and physically capable of enjoying it. Thanks for checking in on my entry into Anna's challenge.
