July 23 is Vanilla Ice Cream Day-Yumm! On a hot summer day, what could be more cool, refreshing and delicious than vanilla ice cream?
There's soft spot in my heart (and mouth) for vanilla ice cream, as it was my Daddy's favorite.
Memories of our family enjoying soft-serve vanilla ice cream cones on Sundays after church at Dairy Queen are sweet to recall.

To be fair, there are Orange Julius/Dairy Queen outlets at Westgate Mall in West San Jose and Westfield Oakridge Shoppingtown in South San Jose.
I suspect most people's first taste of ice cream is the flavor of vanilla-especially if they were young children when first sampling this tasty treat.
