When Things Old Can Find New Life Again

Real Estate Agent with GreatWest Realty DRE# 00827565

I'm one of those people who really looks at an item before I'm ready to haul it to the dumps. Just because something is believed to have lost purpose, doesn't mean it is always so!

For example, several years ago I came across these old chimney pipes on a piece of land, ready to be discarded.  When I first cast my eyes on them, I saw a solution to a question I had about where to plant herbs in my garden.  I quickly asked for permission to adopt them.

Here’s what those old chimney pipes look like on a previously bare spot at my house.  There’s Sage, Basil, Oregano and Thyme.  I put in small flowering plants to add a little color.

I take pictures for the purpose of remembering fond times.  I do not impose copyright restrictions on this photo, so you may feel free to use, or distribute as you wish.  However, should you need a Real Estate Professional in the Greater Sacramento area, I hope you will contact me by email or by visiting my website www.myrljeffcoat.com - Thank You!

Myrl, quite artistically arranged pieces. I enjoy so much to see a creative second use of durable items ... I am the same way, I try to take every possible use of something before I send it to the landfill.

Good morning, Myrl Jeffcoat that's a good use of discarded sections of clay "flue lining" from a chimney... old has a rebirth....

Lovely, Myrl. I must admit that I have no sense of imagination for such things and am always envious of people who do and can repurpose mundane things in such a beautiful way.

Re-purposed and you really didn't have to do a thing to them! I love all of it - the creativity for re-purposing, the design of the flue pieces and the did something so environmentally-friendly (both saving the landfill and planting herbs and flowers in them).

Myrl Jeffcoat - I have to be honest. If I had seen those chimney pipes I wouldn't have known what they were nor would I have thought about using them for another purpose. Kudos to you for using your imagination! They are stunning and your herbs look so pretty. It all blends in so well to the landscaping and it looks so earthy. They blend in so well. It's perfect for your yard. I also like the smooth stones where they rest. Simple! Easy! Beautiful! Just like you Myrl!

Others should take note of what you accomplished by recycling these chimney pipes for your garden.
