Summer wouldn't be fun in summer if it wasn't for Fort Worth, TX! Did you ever know a kid who didn't want to be a Cowboy? Or a Cowgirl? Riding horses and being around horses has a way of teaching one many life lessons. If you never dreamed about Cowboys or Cowgirls, horses, and having fun, well then.... fiddle-dee-dee! Now's your chance to be one!
The National Day of the American Cowboy is on July 27, 2019. Follow the link for more information and location. The event celebrates the history and the heritage of the American Cowboy. The event will take place in Fort Worth, TX at the Fort Worth Stockyards. Activities for the whole family include the following:
- Rodeo
- Gun Fight
- A Cow Milking Contest
- Live Music including fiddling!
- A Mustache Contest
- Chuck Wagon Poetry
- Most Worn Boot Contest
- A Quick Draw Contest
- A Parade
The parade kicks off the event with a Cattle Drive starting at 11:30 a.m. Come hungry and join the fun at Riscky's rib eating contest beginning at 11:00 a.m. Customers can register in advance on FaceBook for $5.00 or $10.00 at the door. For lively and interesting entertainment, stop off at Billy Bob's, where some of the greatest country singers that ever lived performed between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. For free admission wear a Cowboy Hat.


These photos were taken on Christmas Morning 2018 while walking through the Stock Yards with my daughter and son-in-law. The last two photos are my family. The cattle drive will run down this street under the Fort Worth Stock Yards Sign.
