Kickerillo-Mischer Preserve...A Peaceful Park in the City
Who could believe that this peaceful park could be located so close to the city? Kickerillo-Mischer Preserve is on 80 acres that includes a 40-acre lake (Marshall Lake), walking paths (some paved), 3 fishing docks, a boat launch, volleyball area, and much more.
The Preserve is in northwest Harris County and was donated by Kickerillo Companies and Mischer Investments. Surrounding the Preserve are multi-family homes, shopping, restaurants, and a major freeway!
The total paved trail is 1.7 miles and takes you along the lake. These are wide enough for walkers, joggers, bikers and dogs!! There are unpaved paths through the woods as well as an Eagle Scout Nature Trail and several benches for breaks or just to sit and admire nature.
Above right is just one of three docks...great for fishing or just taking in the view.
During the summer the Preserve offers a variety of activities including Fishing 101, Evening Tai-Chi, Come ‘N Go Canoeing and Fishing, and more. In addition, Scout troops and non-profit youth service groups can reserve an area for overnight camping. The area is located near restrooms that include showers and has grills and a covered picnic area.
Top left is an early morning group working out. Top right is the largest dock where young and old can fish.
It is not unusual to find a lone reader sitting on a bench while a kayaker attempts to catch a local bass. Or early in the morning before the temperatures hit the 90s there are groups working out in the open area with yoga mats and plenty of water.
