Gaithersburg Arts Barn, in Kentlands, to Close for Repairs

 

The Gaithersburg Arts Barn,  Gaithersburg's performing and visual arts center,  will be closed for repairs starting August 5, 2019. The closure is expected to last until September 20th.

The planned improvements include a new roof and a new HVAC system as well as exterior brick repointing.

Built in 1900 as a horse stable, the Arts Barn officially opened its doors as a center for performing and visual arts in 2002. The 99-seat venue has been home to art galleries, artist-in-residence studios, camps and workshops, a performing arts theater and more. It is located at 311 Kent Square Rd., behind the Kentlands Mansion.

That's a nice appearing building.  I'm glad they are going to repair it.  I had not heard of brick "repointing" before.  I had to Google it.  And, I learned something new today!
