Finally! A new Mental Health Clinic for Veterans is scheduled to open on August 2, 2019, at 406 S Carroll Blvd., Denton, Texas. The opening will begin with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony by our Congressman Michael C Burgess, M.D. All North Texans are invited to attend for the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. After serving our community in Lewisville for 30 years as an OB-GYN Physician, Michael Burgess did a bold move to pioneer changes in Government to be a bigger voice and advocate for all people of Denton County.

Since 2003, Congressman Burgess serves the constituents of the 26th District, including Flower Mound, in the U.S. House of Representatives. Michael Burgess is a Congressman by the people; for the people. He is an advocate for Texas Veterans in North Texas.  As written in the Flower Mound Leader, Burgess said, "Quality health care - including mental health care - is imperative to our veterans' well being."

Because of the Congressman's background, he has been a strong advocate for health care legislation and he serves as the senior medical doctor for the 115th Congress. His heart is with the people.

Since September 11, 2001, more than 3.3 million Veterans served. More than 41,000 Veterans call North Texas home. Mental Health Clinics are needed for our Veterans. The new Clinic "expands the VA's capacity to support our region's" population growth.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information call (940) 497-5031.

This is certainly good news!  I believe that one of the biggest issues with society today is the lack of help for those with mental illnesses.  If the government makes a point of improving this aspect of the health care system, I believe the world will be a much better place to live in for all.

That's good news, indeed, Patricia. Hope the community turns out in force to support the opening of this facility.

Brian England - Mental Illness is a problem. For Veterans, the government should be taking care of their own military with the most qualified physicians and nurses. As far as the public goes the FDA needs to improve significantly and to the private sector, I don't believe in government outreach. Obamacare was a disaster.

Hello Patricia - this certainly seems like good news not just for veterans but as an indication of how government is suppose to work for the betterment of the community and all members of it.

Hi Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP,

As a mother of a Marine veteran, this is sorely needed and my hat is off the Congressman for his efforts in getting this done. I don't think many realize what an epidemic this truly is. Thank you for highlighting it.
