On July 18, 2019, The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Remodeling Market Index (RMI) up one point to 55 points in the 2nd quarter of 2019 from 54 points in the 1st quarter of 2019.

The current market conditions index gained two points to 55 points in the 2nd quarter of 2019 from 1st quarter of 2019.
The major additions and alterations index rose four points to 53 points in the 2nd quarter of 2019 from 1st quarter of 2019.
The smaller additions and alterations index stayed the same at 55 points in the 2nd quarter of 2019 from 1st quarter of 2019.
The home maintenance and repair component index unchanged at 56 points in the 2nd quarter of 2019 from 1st quarter of 2019.

“The remodeling market has decelerated somewhat due to ongoing supply-side challenges, as well as year-over-year declines in existing home sales,” said NAHB Chief Economist Robert Dietz. “However, remodelers’ confidence continues to be positive. Market conditions would be better if not for labor shortages and rising construction costs making it difficult to complete some projects at prices home owners can afford.”

John Pusa - Labor problems, supply, and demand combined with costs can have a direct impact on the consumers. It makes our jobs more challenging too with low inventory with many that are in need of renovations and limited by budgets. The trend in my area is also declining in sales and buyer confidence is dwindling.

Thanks for this excellent report!
