Saturday Smiles: As Fresh as it Gets--the Santa Barbara Farmers Market

By

Pictured above are fresh basil plants with roots. When you get home, you can put the basil in water, and it will last a week or more, if you change the water regularly.

For many of us tomatoes means Caprese salad.  And for a great Caprese Salad you need fresh sliced tomatoes, fresh mozarella, fresh basil, and a top of the line extra Virgin Olive oil, or any other oil you like.  We have at times used Hazelnut, Walnut and Pistachio oil.  Some folks add a dash or two on top of aged balsamic vinegar.

Bon Appetit!

Hello Alexandra and Ron - freshness matters.  And it certainly appears it is in evidence at the Santa Barbara Farmers Market.

Fresh basil is important for the Caprese salad. I think I will have some for dinner tomorrow!

Morning again Alexandra.

Well I sure like all the ingredients you mentioned.  Trouble is I don't remember using them all at once.

We do add the drizzle of a great balsamic on top. Can't wait to enjoy our fresh tomatoes and make this salad again.  Yum.
