Are you up for a home transformation? Don’t worry if you aren’t a natural talent for interior design; we have compiled some of the best tricks used by interior designers. They’re easy to employ and very affordable. Get ready to be inspired.

If you are a DIY guy and looking for resources to learn more about home remodeling and designs, The Tooly is my favorite for learning beginner-level home improvements and other related staffs.

1.Paint the Walls
You don't have to break the bank to achieve a new look. A fresh coat of color will enliven your home instantly.
Avoid using dark shades on your walls and go for lighter, more neutral tones! Using light colors for the walls is a great way to make the rooms appear larger. Keep the curtains and drapes open so that you have enough natural light, and place a few mirrors on strategic points to further ‘enlarge’ space.

2.Use Wallpapers
If you’re not in a mood for painting, consider using wallpapers. Covering only one wall in a room is a great way to liven it up instantly. Choose toned down shades for the rooms and brighter colors for mundane spaces like the pantry, hallway, or powder room.

3.Paint the Bookcases
Bookcases are probably the easiest and cheapest way to turn a dull room into a place where you enjoy spending your time. They’re the perfect place to begin your home transformation because the area you need to paint is small. Go wild and use brighter colors to energize the space.

4.Mix and Match
Have fun and create unexpected matches. Combine old and new furniture, different textures and patterns, cheap and expensive items.

The most important thing when decorating your home is that it reflects your style and personality. Follow your gut; if you want to place your grandma’s rocking chair next to a minimalist sofa, go for it. If you like the combo, there’s no reason why they shouldn’t be next to each other.

When it comes to fabrics, the combination of different textures, patterns, and colors is a great way to bring warmth into your living space. If the overall decor is neutral, the furniture and accessories (cushions, pillows, rugs) can be in brighter shades. Another way to make the space interesting is by including a variety of materials such as linen, taffeta, raw silk, cotton, and velvet.

5.Use Rugs
Rugs are a great way to add color, texture, and personality to your living space. Not to mention they keep your home warm during the colder months. Play a little and use several rugs in different fabrics and patterns. Or, add rugs in the same fabric and pattern but in different colors.

You can change the rugs to reflect the seasons, using lighter colors for the warm months and warmer colors for the cold months.

If you want to bring depth and sophistication in your home, try antique rugs. If you have kids, choose inexpensive rugs made of cotton which are easy to wash.

6.Add Greenery
Add greenery to every single room in your home. Plants are the most affordable way to accessorize the living space, add texture and color. They’re not only pretty, but they also absorb harmful gasses and pollutants from the air, making your home clean and fresh.

7.Declutter Your Kitchen
Even the most beautiful kitchen will look awful if it’s always cluttered. Considering how much time we spend cooking and eating in our kitchens, we need to make sure they’re inviting and warm. The first step towards decluttering your kitchen is adding a hanging pot rack. Pot racks come in all styles and sizes. They are a simple and inexpensive way to make your kitchen elegant and free up some cupboard space to store other items.

8.Try Wicker
Wicker furniture and accessories are excellent for home décor. They bring a traditional feel and a rustic touch to your home. Think wicker chairs, chests, and of course baskets, which are ideal for storing books, magazines, towels, blankets, toys, and whatnot. Rugs, mats, shatters, and lamps are ideal for decorating a balcony or a veranda.

9.Mirrors, Mirrors
Besides for checking your appearance or ensuring there is nothing between your teeth, mirrors can be used to make the room larger than it actually is by placing them directly across from the windows. But that’s not all. Mirrors can be very fun to decorate with. Add them in the hallway, bathroom, or incorporate them into your gallery wall. Visit the local flea market and, with a little luck, you might find a show-stopping centerpiece for your house.

10.Light It Up
Besides doing their main job – providing lighting to help you work, write, and read, lamps also add a decorating kick to any room. They come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, textures, and colors which gives you an opportunity to experiment and play. When choosing a lamp, make sure it accommodates the room’s activities and that it enhances the existing furniture and color scheme.

11.Dress Up the Furniture
Despite their bad reputation, slipcovers can be used to change the furniture whenever you feel like it. Whether you want your sofa to reflect the season or you just feel bored with it, these easily-removed covers allow you to add an instant sophisticated look. Moreover, you don’t need to worry if someone will dirty your furniture, and are ideal if you have small kids.

12.Accessorize
Do you have boxes packed with items you never use? It’s time to open them up and see what you can use to accessorize your home. Find a fun tray (metal, silver, wooden) and place it on the coffee table to add extra dimension & texture. Old books and picture frames can add a rustic touch, whereas plates can be hung to create amazing wall art. You’ll be amazed at what you can do with the décor items you already have.
