Keep People On Your Site!
That's one of the biggest issues with websites... how to keep people on the site. It's not just one page either. We want people clicking around all the time! But if we don't give our readers anything to click on then they certainly won't go searching themselves. We have to make it very obvious and clear that we want to send them down a rabbit hole of great information and that can be hard to do on a real estate site unless they're looking at listings... and that's exactly what we want them to do. The reason people stay on YouTube so long is that one thing leads to another and boom! You're on the site for an hour or more.
So how can we get people to stay on our site? Well, related content usually works but most people just want the facts and move on, so how can we allow them to move on but stay on the site?
Internal links.
I think I should just show you rather than tell you. If you look at this page: https://www.dfwmoves.com/alliance-homes-real-estate.php It's all about Alliance Texas. Not only is there massive amounts of content on the page but multiple spots for more links internally to different types of searches. There are searches you may not have even thought about searching for so it gives you a link to another search page and then on that page, there are even more custom searches. Cindy, the owner of the site, receives 8-9 pages per visitor.
That's a pretty good response. People are clicking all over the place. Now have several community or city pages with all those custom searches and before you know it you have 800 pages for people to click through (yep, she has over 800 pages).
There are several ways to keep people on your site but images, videos, and internal links are the best way to do it. In the end, you want them to contact YOU for your business or service but the more you have people clicking around, the longer they stay and the more pages they view, the better you look to Google and Google will then start ranking your site higher and higher.
Yes, it's a LOT of work but it's so worth it! It takes time to develop but try and focus on one area at a time. Make yourself a spreadsheet and checklist, custom search boxes and code to copy and paste into different pages. It can get a little confusing at times but by keeping it organized and keeping the flow from one page to another, you'll have a killer website in no time.
