Wordless Wednesday: Dragonfly Sculpture
I've always admired those who create sand sculptures, some of which can be pretty amazing.
We recently stayed a couple of days in Wailea, Maui and the resort had a big sandbox which featured a new sand sculpture each week. The first morning we were there we went for a walk along the beach and found that week's feature - a huge dragonfly. Pretty impressive, don't you think?
Beutiful. Ahhh Wailea, Maui. My second home for many years (since 1975). I was married there at The Grand Wailea and spent many vacations there. I discovered Willie K there about 20 years ago.
Hi Jeff Dowler, CRS, this is a great piece of art, thank you for sharing it with us. Sadly, it takes a long time to build something this beautiful but seconds to destroy, similar to many things in life.
I love seeing stuff like that too, I am so glad you shared this with us! I enjoy watching people create such things, I doubt I could ever do it myself.

No, the signage only said it was something the resort created every week - no specific person mentioned. I can't imagine being able to do this.

Can you imagine? Perhaps they have a company/individual that does this for them, or a very talented employee. It was certainly in a wonderful work location along the ocean!

Thank you Sharon Lee . I had forgotten about the one I had of the Orlando Memorial until I wa writing my comment. Truly amazing. But that dragonfly impressed the heck out of me and is certainly a far cry from any sand creations I have ever made!

I have a fascination with dragonflies. They often appear in my yard in various colors - Red, Orange, Blue, Green. I've never seen one like the one pictured. I'd like to have it in my backyard!

We saw some wonderful dragonflies in Maui - they were huge!! I love tha various colors!
We see some around our home but not all that often - they are fascinating to watch!

I want the job of recreating the featured sculpture each week, Jeff! I can't imagine the job satisfaction - the beach would give you so much inspiration, wouldn't it?!
I do often wonder how the artists bear to watch their works of art washed away though.

That would be quite the job, and place to work, if one had the skills.
I think it WOULD be hard to know your creation is short lived, but knowing many will walk by and enjoy it likely helps.
