Reducing My Personal Footprint

Reducing My Personal Footprint  Not as a goal necessarily but as a lifestyle. A mindset.  It's a preference and it's mine.  It's the way I choose to live. It's been this way for some time and things of all kinds have become less important.  For many reasons.

An epiphany?  Yes and no.  Of sorts.  And not so dramatic as well.   Life doesn't always cooperate as we might expect.  Stuff happens.  And so do I.  So do each of us.

Reflect. Regroup.  Refocus.  Thoughts can overwhelm.   Just as much as material stuff.  Reduce.  Reuse.  Recycle.  It's all about options.  As much as I like to ponder, I understand the importance of action. Just Do It.  It really is more than a rather nifty slogan and a swoosh.  It's everything associated with it.  Reducing our collective footprint and mine personally. Like so many aspects of life, it's definitely a work in progress.

.

You can't make footprints in the sands of time by sitting on your butt.

And who wants to leave buttprint in the sands of time.

The image in this post is from canstockphoto.com. Thankfully, I didn't even search for a buttprint image.  You know, less is really a lot more.

Michael Jacobs - Thank you! I am involved in many projects and I have a very important goal I'm trying hard to achieve. Today, my mental make-up is more important than cosmetics that cover my face. You are motivating me in the most positive way.

Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP - I remember hearing that if you want something done, ask a busy person.  I guess the thinking is that that busy person will find a way to accomplish the task...something like that....

Morning Michael.

When I no longer need anything, I get rid of it.  My wife on the other hand, well that's another story

Michael, when I moved last year, I REALLY purged, and 1/3 of my house did not move with me.  I lived in that other house for 17 years, too much space for too much crap.   My new house is the same SF, but laid out differently.

Joan Cox - things seem to have an unusual reproduction power.  Purging can be quite effective.  Moving is often the best way to address it.

Oh boy! I'm trying to minimize a little at a time but, I really need more hours in the day, Michael.

I will say that I had an evening final walk-through this evening and before I headed to the walk-through, I stopped by my house and changed vehicles. I had loaded Ray's van with items to donate and the donation place was on my way to the walk-through! Killed two birds with one stone and managed to reduce my footprint at the same time!

Endre Barath, Jr. - reducing/eliminating is an ongoing process/prjoject.  It often seems never-ending too.

Debe Maxwell, CRS - two birds and one stone is one of the multi-tasking functions in life that can work wonders.

Hi Michael Jacobs,

I have been recycling for so many decades, I can't remember when I started.  I will donate gently used clothing and the like so that others may enjoy what I have. But I am working hard to continue to pare down.

such a contrast between our personal lives and our professional - in our professional lives we need to be out there - putting ourselves in front of our clients and potential clients but in our personal lives it is better to go small and one to one to make those human connections - those prints in other peoples' lives

When we relocated to NW AZ, we decided to eliminate much of what we had accumulated for years. Good Will and the Salvation Army benefited by our minimalizing. Now living here in the high desert and being on water haul, we have further reduced our foot print.  Living 15 miles from town, we schedule our trips to town.   This is a choice and those who live in the high desert recognize this is a necessary choice.
