DOGS IN PARADISE

Thanks to human kindness from thousands of years ago dogs were tamed to become an accepted part of society. Their uncanny superiority of the senses makes them lovable and valuable to man, woman, child and isn't it interesting, they have the ability to foster and care for newly born kittens, chickens, and other animals including tenderly guarding a newborn infant into the family. Also, isn't it wonderful that Service Dogs are making a difference when it comes to health and well being in areas of medicine, such as mental, physical, and other disabilities? Flower Mound acknowledges their intelligence and unconditional love.

Dogs in paradise affectionately named as The Hound Mound at Heritage Park was created for the benefit of the residential dogs of Flower Mound, TX. The dedication occurred on January 2016. Something the town is very proud of are the pet owners who adopt pets from the animal shelters. When dogs are properly fostered and cared for they make great members of the community and companions for life. The Hound Mound was unanimously approved, planned, designed, and implemented on schedule for the benefit of the residential dogs and their owners. Our Town's 5-acre dog park is located on the east side of Heritage Park located at 1202 Garden Ridge Blvd. in Flower Mound.

Amenities were planned and approved by Town Council to keep the Hound Mound an exceptional place where dogs can enjoy the good life include the following:

  • Hybrid Bermuda Turf
  • Natural Shade Trees
  • Separate Areas for Little Ones and Big Dogs
  • Pet Waste Stations
  • Seating Areas With Water Fountains
  • Irrigation System
  • Trash Receptacles
  • Landscaping
  • 40 Lighted & Video Monitored Parking Spaces.

Socialized training is important for dogs to become a member of the community. Dog owners who believe that dogs are family members will appreciate the off-leash area specifically designed for pet owners and their dogs to interact and get to know one another. Puppies have a chance to romp and play, learn new tricks, exercise, and get plenty of loving and attention. Whether a dog is young or old or somewhere in between, they can all benefit in Hound Mound Paradise.

The park is open every day from 7 a.m. to dusk except Wednesday for weekly general maintenance. The Town of Flower Mound is dedicated to keeping the Hound Mound fresh and clean by the order of the Director of Parks and Recreation. It is also closed when inclement weather or dangerous conditions are necessary for the protection of the dog residents of Flower Mound.

"I think dogs are the most amazing creatures; they give unconditional

love. For me, they are the role model for being alive.

Hi Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI, MRP,

Flower Mound has put together a wonderful area for residents with furbabies to enjoy. Sedona completed a remodel of our dog park just last year but I have not been there to check it out. I do know that these areas are very busy every day of the week. It is money well spent.

Sheri Sperry - MCNE® - I'm really proud of what the Town of Flower Mound did and that they continue to follow-through making it a welcoming, entertaining, and clean place for owners to take their wonderful pets. Like anything new, maintenance makes it even greater.

I hope Sedona's remodel has gone well. There are so many people who adopt and own pets. That's a good thing! Whether or not domestic dogs are living in luxury homes or modest size homes, they all deserve a little dog paradise!

That sounds like a great facility.  You know how we feel about dogs. Met some wonderful people at dog parks and we have remained dear friends.   So many benefits when we love a wonderful and loyal fur pal. D

Oh, my fur babies would love The Hound Mound (love the name too, Patricia)! Such a fun place to visit and what wonderful therapy for our fur babies...and us!

Also, Gilda was spot on:

The Hound Mound sounds as close to perfection for our dog friends as any place could be. A lot of thought and planning went into this.

Hi Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP service dogs are a Blessing for so many people....and Golden Retrievers are a Blessing for grieving children and adults...after my grandchildren lost their father in the line of duty, their first Goldie was named Rocco and then he needed company, too.... they fell in love with Roxie.... I love those dogs for everything they both did for Tammy and the children....that was 7 years ago.

Georgie Hunter R(S) 58089 - It's important for me to market The Hound Mound to attract Buyers so they know there is a Paradise created by the Community for their benefit. You're absolutely right, "it's important to a lot of people."

Everyone has a lifestyle and for those who have pets knowing their pet can live in harmony within the Community is greatly important. Thank you, Georgie for your awesome support over the many years on ActiveRain. I greatly appreciate you.

I love that, Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP and, you have me pegged, for sure! I was on my way to becoming a veterinarian and a boyfriend stood in the way of a full ride to college (NC State) to play for Kay Yow and my dream of becoming a vet! I don't, at all, regret my decision - I wouldn't be with the wonderful man I am today or have the two amazing boys I have, had I gone that route in life!

Why do I always write a chapter in a book on your posts?!! LOL

That sounds to be the perfect dog park to bring my Sweet Golden Charlotte to if she was still here. She loved going to dog parks and also to visiting lakes or the ocean to go swimming. It's been over ten years now and she is still missed.

Dog parks are such a great place to socialize also. I remember writing about local ones but now my dog is older and prefers to spend much of her time sleeping.
