Friday Photo 2: A Moment of Joy--Just Bloomed In Our Garden!

By

On sunny days, we always have lunch on our patio.  As we were enjoying our lunch today, we noticed this hibiscus had opened up on one of our two bushes.  This was a moment of joy for us, we noticed the hummingbird and butterflies agreed!

Here are some interesting meanings for the hibiscus flower:

  • hibiscus is considered a very feminine flower and so is usually given or worn by women. In North America especially, a hibiscus means a perfect wife or woman.
  • In Victorian times, giving a hibiscus meant that the giver was acknowledging the receiver’s delicate beauty.
  • In China, hibiscuses symbolize the fleeting and beauty of fame or personal glory. It is given to both men and women.

Happy Friday Everyone & we wish you a wonderful weekend!

Ron & Alexandra

Hello Alexandra and Ron - oh, those ocean breezes must be the ideal complement to that combination of hibiscus plants, butterflies and hummingbirds.

Hi Ron and Alexandra- we had beautiful hibiscus bushes in Delray Beach!  We don't have any in our current home but may have to look into a few.

Hi Ron and Alexandra Seigel,

What a beautiful image of a hibiscus flower. The color is stunning. I learned something new about this beautiful flower.  You don't see these much in Sedona.  Actually,  I was amazed to see a few bushes on Oak Creek when I was there for breakfast.

I love hibiscus plants, Alexandra... and always have one on my front porch next to my front door. Mine was a "riot" of flowers yesterday. I'm always sorry that the flowers fade so quickly.

They are really beautiful flowers. I'm sure it was a moment of joy and I can picture you two out on your sunny patio.

My white hibiscus ( Rose of Sharon) bush was nipped by deer. I am still waiting to see some blooms this summer. The joys of sharing space with wildlife. Ha.

Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD sorry to hear the deer enjoyed it.  There is a natural pepper spray that keeps the deer away, so I am told.  I have not tried out.  A
