Saturday Smiles: The Colors of Summer @Santa Barbara Farmers Market

By

Vivid colors on a gorgeous sunny day characterize the Summer Santa Barbara Farmers Market. Garden of Eden Farms have some of the tastiest and most colorful lettuce varieties.

White Kadota figs are just starting to appear.  These are one of my favorite summer fruits.  Growing up in Beirut, Lebanon, there was a fig tree in our garden, and I loved climbing it for dessert.  Ron and I like them with a slice of prosciutto, as an appetizer.

All types of peppers in rainbow colors are showing up.  These small peppers are sweet peppers, even though they look ominous like their hot cousins.

Purple peppers are nicely contrasted with their green cousins.

Here is another arrangement of peppers by the talented crew at Peacock Farms.

And one of the flower vendors had these lovely lisianthus flowers in the deepest of purple shades!

Wishing you all an abundance of Saturday Smiles!

Grant Schneider we agree, and have to give big props to the Farmers Market in Nice, which is utterly amazing.  They have mounds of fresh spices and herbs, they are cooking mussels, they have fresh shrimp, etc...A

Michael Jacobs we has a dwarf fig in Los Angeles on our property.  We had to fight with the birds to get a fig or two.  We had to net all our fruit trees!  LOL A

I was just looking at their website. You are limited to 30 days in a calendar year. You can stay 14 days leave for 2 days and reserve a 2nd 14 days. After I get my new rig sometime over the winter I will have to look in to it.  Wouldn't it be cool to coordinate a time that Debb and Bernie  could come as well. We could be the 5 musketeers.  (Smile)

Morning Alexandra.

Never had a fresh fig, the only ones you can find around here are the dried ones.  Maybe one of these days, sigh

Beautiful photos and I'm sure you ( Alexandra ) were drawn to the purple flowers. They are such a wonderful shade of purple.  Love fresh figs, not sure if we've tried these, I'll have to ask Bern.

Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD The Kadota figs are intense in their flavor, but less so than the black ones.  I like them both.  I did not buy any,  and was willing to pay for just one...one of my favorite vendors refused to take $$ for it, and gave me one...A
