Some people are more challenging to work with than others.

Below are three examples.

 

 

#1 

The person who trusts no one.

The sooner you figure this out, the better. 

In the middle of a difficult divorce, a seller wanted someone to represent her like I represented the previous seller. She was 100%  sure she wanted to sell and 100% she wanted to use me.

But when it came time to answer some necessary questions:

How much was still owed?

Are you current on your payments?

Who could legally sign?

Any other liens on the house?

She was not willing to share the information.

Her comment: You just sell this house for the most you can. That’s all you need to know.   Her reason for not sharing this information?  She trusted absolutely no one. That is a difficult/impossible person to work with.

In real estate, there is a lot of legal nuances. The contract can be 45 to 50 pages and that is for a simple cash deal. If not understood seek legal advice.

#2

The person who can not make a decision.

This is called analysis paralysis... which is the state of over-analyzing or over-thinking.  This goes along with involving and asking many others, who are not involved in the transaction, for their opinions.  Decisions or actions are not completed and the effect paralyzes the outcome. This does not mix well with buying and selling.

 

 

#3

The person who wants guarantees.

There are people who no matter what the contract says,  can figure out the absolute worst thing that can happen. They want to know if you can guarantee settlement will take place on the stated date, if the loan is going to be approved, and be assured that the home inspection will have no issues. Of course, nothing in life is a guarantee. What if you get hit by a bus? What if we have a simultaneous earthquake, hurricane and tornado. No guarantees!

Get yourself educated about the buying process. Write a contract in good faith, trust your chosen professionals, know what you want.   When you are ready to go into a transaction be positive. Positive of what you want and positive of the people you choose to work with.
