Are we an industry of itinnerant workers? This question came up for me recently as I have a friend in the office who, after 20 some years decided to seek the next career. Is that how it works? Truly dedicated Realtors populate this list but too often we find that the increase we see in numbers of Realtors (42% from 2004 to 2005 in Colorado) most are just passing time. They will be in the business only until the next job offer comes in.
Does that do the public a good service? Maybe there should be an apprenticship program like plumbers. Then, when someone lists a house in Highlands Ranch Colorado with a part timer, at least there would be someone watching over their shoulder. But that is how it used to be...until the Real Estate Commission decided on a single license for everyone and we all be came "brokers" no matter our experience. This was a Colorado cost cutting move and the Real Estate Commission was able to allocated its resources to other enforcement issues that were more substantial.
