Recruitment is a big deal for any company. Whether you currently have a team of  4 or a team of 500,000, it is essential that you get the right team players in the right positions in your company. I have seen examples before teams where a toxic team member comes in and destroys relationships among a productive group. That example was from a Fortune 16 company!

 

No matter how big a company is, hiring the wrong people can cause ripple affects through a company. In this post I am going to show you some tips for hiring and adding to your team.

 

A Proper Recruitment Process

I spoke before about having a recruitment process for your company You can use free jobs listings to drum up some interest in your new vacancy and to get some applications for you to consider. A recruitment software solution will help you to better manage your recruitment efforts and allow you to follow a process that will help you hire the best possible candidates.

You can screen candidates with a screener questionaire to filter out people based on their answers. This would help to find the candidates that are the best fit for your company.

 

Hire Based On Qualifications And Experience

Some would say that qualifications are becoming inferior to experience. While expericence is necessary, qualifications should be one of the main deciding factors for hiring. For example, if I am looking to hire a cleaner, someone who has done a commercial cleaning course should be high up on the recruitment shortlist.

 

Meeting Outside the Office

If you are a business manager and you need a new team member, you should take the time to meet with candidates and perhaps meet them in a location outside of the office. People can react differently when in neutral settings compared to an interview setting. For some managers they see the "true colors" of a person when they meet them at a neutral venue.

 

If you have a large team, consider also who could be promoted from other positions in your business to a higher role. Having promotion opportunities in your company will help with employee motivation and gives your a staff a personal goal to work towards.

Those are some tips for adding new members to the team. Remember if you wrongly hire people, it will cost your company money and hiring toxic people could drive good employees away from your company.
