Realtors who own a Ford fall into a very well defined group of drivers. The Ford slogan ‘Built Ford Tough’, is the company telling these drivers that, however ‘tough’ you drive a Ford, they are built ‘tough’ enough to withstand your abuse. It communicates a standard of manufacturing that produces a machine which can withstand robust, hard, ‘tough’ driving.
If only a slogan were a legally binding contract. Alas, that is not the case, because we are all too aware that numerous Ford owners have experienced a fair degree of difficulty when it comes to getting their favorite brand of motor fixed. Many have come to realize that ‘Ford Tough’ may not be ‘Tough Enough’
OK, no-one is saying that this Ford slogan is completely void. We simply want to point out that Ford owners may do well to check their vehicles’ extended warranties.
In line with other motor manufacturers operating in today’s market, such as Chevy or Dodge, Ford appears to be simply making their vehicles a little less ‘tough’ than they used to. Couple this to the fact that maintenance and repair costs have increased at an inflation-busting rate in recent years; AND that foreign motor manufacturers are improving all the time on their reliability, price and performance. It is of little surprise that the American Automotive Industry has experienced a decline over the past few decades.
So, regardless of what your preferred motor brand’s slogan states about how ‘tough’, reliable or robust their vehicles are, we just want to point out that, eventually, they will all break down.
Ford Manufacturer’s and Extended Warranties
All new motors purchased from the Ford dealership come with a manufacturer’s warranty. This is also the case for many used cars that are still ‘new’ enough to fall inside Ford’s manufacturer’s warranty timescale
These warranties are given as a form of reassurance or protection from repair costs in the event of malfunction or mechanical failure during the specified warranty period.
Typically, motor manufacturers allow these warranties to run for a limited time period - generally around 36 months - after which point you are completely liable for the cost of all repairs.
If only there was a means by which you could have this reassurance cover indefinitely? Well, there is - it is called the Ford Extended Warranty .
The Ford Extended Warranty is designed to provide Ford owners with protection and reassurance from potentially crippling auto repair costs after the initial Manufacturer’s Warranty has expired.
It’s now common for manufacturers to erode their initial warranties to such a level that, during the entire period covered by the manufacturer’s warranty, it is very unlikely that your vehicle will need a repair covered by it.
