How To Make Work More Green

Education & Training with Joseph Doohan

There is a lot of talk right now on things we can do to protect the environment and save our planet. In this post I am going to talk about some simple ways to make your workplace more green and environmentally friendly. Overall these tips should also reduce the outgoings of your business.

Cycle To Work

This may not suit every one and in wet climates and during winter this will not be feasible. However, taking your bicycle to work instead of your car for 30 days of the year will save you money on gas, while also result in less carbon emissions.

There are a number of options available for business people to use a bicycle as a mode of transport to get to work. There are electric bicycles that help you along and require less pedalling to get from A to B.

There are also fold up bicycles that are handy for storage and can be securely stored in the office.

Take Notes Electronically

Do you use a pen and paper for taking notes and for writing to do lists? Why not switch to using electronics like a tablet or just a mobile phone. You can use a solar charger to keep your electronics charged. This means you can greatly reduce your carbon footprint and save resources on paper.

Turn of electrical items

Leaving electrical items on standby consumes energy. If there is no need for an electrical item to be plugged in or on standby, turn it off. This will reduce your electrical bills also and save your business money.

Set Up Recycling Bins

It is worth your time setting up recycling bins for cardboard, plastic and metals. By recycling items that can be reused, you can reduce the amount of your waste that ends up in landfills, or even worse, the sea.

We can all do our bit to give back to our planet. It belongs to us all and we need to take care of it for our future generations. The tips above are just some quick tips to make your workplace a more greener place for the future.
