Limiting Beliefs...Limit You

Real Estate Agent with EXP Realty 414-525-0563 57026-90 Broker

. This may well not be the most popular post we ever wrote...and that's OK. If you have gotten to know us at all..sometimes the purpose of our writing is to awaken a reality check...encourage "pondering"..(Thank you Michael Jacobs ) which may lead to some ponderevelations. Revelations are in and of themselves. sometimes cause for change if we allow our minds to be open to new ideas and a different way to approach things.  Everyone has a reason for placing different values on things...and determining their comfort levels and priorities.

It may be...the people you choose as business dislikeBrokerages, Lending institutions and other companies whether they are a national company, a franchise or locally owned...there will always be people, rules etc. you like...and some you may not. That is the Human part of all of won't love everything about anyplace all the time.

It is limiting beliefs that limit anyone's abilities to change or reach a goal.Goals can be physical,  emotional, business, or a limiting beliefscombination of these things. Is there more than one way to achieve them ...have you allowed yourself the "journey of objectivity" ?  Did you examine the possibilities that there are different ways to approach something that will yield better/different results ? You can give yourself permission to examine your beliefs...and change them without the imagined repercussions that have restrained you in the past.  People will only respect me if this car, this is the "best zip code"...people choose to do business because I am or am or do not...Upon more careful examination, you may well find out your perceptions are only your own...not the people you seek to attract in business be they as associates or clients.

Recently I have had discussions with people in a variety of situations about their limiting beliefs ...some faced with new challenges in different knowledge is poweraspects of their lives...some who are open to new opportunities. Being open to new opportunities and changes doesn't mean you have to dislike where you are or what you do or how, where you do it...It means you are going beyond your limiting beliefs. I had a great discussion with someone who said..."I want to learn more...I don't believe I understand all the aspects well enough to make a decision."

Knowledge is Power...and you can't gain any more when your beliefs are built on assumptions. It is open to discovery....and enjoy the results.  Amen and Women.

Hi Sally K. & David L. Hanson, I have lived in areas where the car you drove, your zip code, and your area code, defined who you were to others.  Since moving to Sedona, I was able to leave all of that behind. The people in Sedona get it and for most, none of that matters.

I remember being at a party at my brother-in-law's home and struck up a conversation with a neighbor of theirs, she asked if I was a local.  I was taken back, of course, I am local, and then I got it. That stuck with me to this day.

I am always open to change, but at the same time I live by something my Grandpa used to say, "if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it".  Of course, in my mind, it doesn't mean that things don't need to be maintained in order to keep working.  I get calls every week from brokerages wanting me to join them and I always tell them no and have no interest in considering what they have to offer and the main reason is that my brokerage treats me like family and family is one of the most important things in my life.

Hi Sally and David- very well said. Some of the wisest people I've met are those whose minds were open. They also were very comfortable saying "I'd never looked at it that way." They continue to grow because they're willing to expand their knowledge.

Sally/David, In this business we work with so many different individuals who may be limited in their beliefs. We were showing homes in ultra luxury neighborhoods to an out-of-state couple. One of the homes I thought would be perfect for them, but they didn't even let us stop the car...Why? They didn't like some of the cars that they saw in dirvieways  - Definitely, limited beliefs!

Morning Sally,

When I first started with the firm I'm at now, there were rules in place that I couldn't understand why.  Now I do understand, and it all makes sense.

Sally and David most of our limitations are because we do not believe we can achieve more and therefore do not.

Hi Sally and David - stoping over from Kathy's post. Limiting beliefs is a big topic, one that takes focus and practice to continually uplevel and shirt one's thinking as we go along the journey. Gary and I were fortuate to be involved with staffing an intensive leadership training seminar years ago. It was alway so interesting to see someone digging in their heels and refusing to look at options....they almost always learned how much more fun it ws to be open to the 'new'!  I remember the few folks that stayed 'positioned' and simply walked off the ranch....kind of strange. We're still living this stuff to this day.....and it's a fun journey for which we are very grateful to be on!

Change comes in many ways Anna Banana Kruchten CRB, CRS 602-380-4886 can be wary of people who use the words "always and never" and  know that with few exceptions...their growth is stunted.

This is something with which we struggle, knowingly or not.  Typically we have lulled ourselves into a particular belief system or way of doing things, etc.  Always important to check what you are doing to see if there are better ways that will improve your: business, life, relationships, future goals, etc.

you may well find out your perceptions are only your own

I had to laugh at your seller who deemed certain buyers unable to purchase their home, based on the car they drive, Sally! That is hysterical!

I have come to the belief that people have too much time on their hands! They are far too judgemental and far too opinionated to possibly get anything done in a day, other than worry about others or forcing their opinion on others.

It used to drive me, I just let them spin their wheels; there's plenty of work to be done to worry about their 'mindsets!' 😊
