If you are planning to welcome your child home by adoption, you need to know that Transitions takes time and require some important and practical things. There are many ways to smooth the transition of the child to the home. We have created a list of ideas that can help you in this transition period:

Learn to build a connection with the new environment

If it is possible, send pictures of your family and home to your child before transitioning. It will help them to ease the uncertainties of the big transition. Ensure that you have attached the names of each family member in the pictures. The pictures should be of your family members, outside of your home, yard, bedroom, shared family space, playroom, and their bed. By sending pictures, your child can become a bit familiar with your place and you which will help them in the placement. You can also conserve with Christian organizations that help orphans to learn to build a connection with a new child.

Know the way your child likes to play

Before returning home from the foster care or the agency you are adopting through, learn how the children love to play, know their dislikes and likes. Take them to nearby park and observe how much they like to be there. Ask questions from their previous care center about their routines their favorites st. Louis roofing contractor for what they play.

Provide a familiar food

Invest your time to research what sort of diet your child was having. If you can visit the orphanage or home where your child received care, ask the caretakers about their preferences in food and specific diets. When you are dining out during adoption trip, buffets can be very helpful to know the food preferences of the child. When you welcome them in your home, take time and days to adjust them in your home cuisine, incorporate their few favorite dishes always to ease the transition, when you provide them food familiar to them it will help them to reassure their food security.

Sleeping arrangements

You need to sleep close to the child for the first few nights. It is good to be close enough that if the child has a nightmare, or need to use a bathroom or need water to drink. Realize that every aspect of child's' life changes when he entered in your home so accept all the uncertainties along the way.

Adjust the schedule as soon as possible

During first few days, your routine can be disturbed due to time difference but make sure you start leading to normal routine of regular pray times, bedtime, playtime, and mealtime depending on the norm of your family. It will help your family and new child to adjust to the transition.

Don’t forget to pray

Pray has an important role in every step you take when you have taken the step of adopting a child, and you need to pray as a parent, as an individual for the new child. Pray for wisdom, patience, and kind. Pray that your children will find their personality in the people who have loved and nurtured them from the beginning.
