It has recently come to light that the City of Rancho Cucamonga, California will be going after people in the Real Estate community who do business in the city of Rancho Cucamonga. Quite simply, if you do any business in the city, not only are they demanding that you have a current liscense, they are going back 3 years and assesing both the permit fee and a penalty if you do not have a liscense. As it was explained today by representatives of the city, this rule applies to everyone, not just the brokers. So if you are a Realtor or an LO, if you did any business in the city, whether your company or office is located there, this applies to you. One of the brokers who was there asked the question if this rule applied to everyone and gave the example of a vendor who was delivering a product to a local grocer. We were told it applied to everyone. When asked how people were being targeted,we were told that Code Enforcment  was in charge of spotting and turning in the culprits. The city of Glendora already has on the books a similar code. For peoplr in Real Estate or Insurance this could really get out of control if we become required to have a business in every cith where we have a transaction. It was mentioned and worth following up on that there may be a Couty liscense that would supersede each city having it's own. Also it might be worth it to see if the rules are being applied equally across the board or if the Real Estate community is being unequally fined.
