Best Cameras to Use For Real Estate Videos

By

Are you looking to improve the videos you make for your real estate business? The best camera you can use is the one that is already with you - weather you keep a DSLR around your neck at all times, or have a smartphone in your pocket. With that said though, some cameras might serve a better function than others.

The Best Cameras for Each Video Situation

For Walkthroughs of the Home:

A DJI Osmo Pocket or GoPro Hero 7 are your best bet, because of their stabilization. It eliminates any shaky video, and can make the tour of your listings look smooth and cinematic. If you take vacations with your family, these double as the perfect travel camera.

For Listing Videos Using a Tripod or Gimbal:

The Canon G7X III or Sony RX100 VII are prosumer cameras. They are high quality and easy to use. If you are a professional yourself you can go with a DSLR or Mirrorless camera set up. However, for listing videos it would be best to utilize the help of a professional videographer.

For Videos Talking to The Camera (for YouTube)

The same cameras listed above are also great for talking to the camera if you are making content for YouTube that answers questions commonly asked by buyers and sellers. There is a flip up screen and mic input for both cameras that will allow you to get the best framing and audio.

For Videos Talking to the Camera (for Social Media)

YOUR PHONE! YouTube videos should look more polished - but with social media platforms like Facebook or Instagram, it is okay to get a little shaky and intimate with your followers. There is no phone that is inherently better than others, despite the amount of arguing online about it. Use what you already have.

What about if we want to do videos with our iphone?  What do you suggest to get the best quality video? For listings, I use a professional.

Great question! It depends on the type of videos you are creating.

If you are sitting and talking, we'd recommend getting a tabletop tripod. Gorillapods are a good choice, or anything you can find on amazon. Mixing it with a good lighting source (like recording next to a window) can make for a good quality video.

If you want to go all out with your iphone video production, we'd recommend getting a stabilizer like the Osmo Mobile 3.
