Sally K. & David L. Hanson good morning, Sally... that is the perfect way to put it! And I will use that expression in future!
The smart people know the benefits and would not ever consider going at it alone! I read on our Realtor forum about a seller that chose to go it on their own and will likely end up getting sued by at least 3 different parties. So much for them saving a few bucks by not hiring a professional, haha.

Nina,
It boggles my mind when people who should know better want to try being a FISBO. One of the agents we know here was telling us of a broker open for a 10 million dollar home listed by owner. The owner was sunbathing by the pool reading his WSJ...He would not answer any questions either...LOL A

Well Nina, the proof that it's necessary to work with a Realtor is when you see so many who try it on their own, eventually have a Real Estate sign on their front lawn!

Brian England hi Brian... we talk a lot about getting more money, more exposure when listing with a real estate pro... and we often forget about the legal liability exposure to people who try to sell and/or buy on their own.

Ron and Alexandra Seigel hi Alexandra... I believe that part of the problem stems from the fact that buyers and sellers don't understand our value because too many agents can't articulate their value. Everyone thinks what we do is so easy.
Lawrence "Larry" & Sheila Agranoff. Cell: 631-805-4400 hi Sheila and Larry... that's an excellent point. Most FSBO's do end up listing with an agent once they've learned nothing is as simple as it seems on the surface.
Hello Nina - like many things in life, professionals often make it appear so easy. It's not necessarily so.

Michael Jacobs hi Michael... that's so true. And one thing I realized a very long time ago is that many agents liked to keep it a secret as to what we did, how we did it, and why we did it. The public, as a result, did not understand our value. I've spent 25 years trying to tear down this veil of secrecy.

Hi Nina Hollander - the Realtor in my BNI asks for a phone shot of a FSBO house with the phone number. It will turn to a Realtor he knows and he wants it to be his.

Grant Schneider hi Grant... here in my part of Charlotte I don't see all that many FSBO signs and often when I do, it's not a house I want to "chase." But I do see an awful lot of discount broker signs in yards... that sit and sit and sit while houses around them sell. As they say, you get what you pay for.
I LOVE todays blog, so much good info consumers need

Nina: Sage advice and clear reasoning why it makes perfect sense for agents to market online and to be ready when consumers make contact from our Internet marketing.

Anita Clark good morning, Anita... I began on-line marketing of my properties 20 years ago when most agents had no clue what that entailed. I believe it made a huge difference in my DOM.
Good morning Nina Hollander Definitely sellers get more exposure using a local Realtor, that's why everyone out there thinking on buying or selling a home in Charlotte area should call you today and hire the best!

Nina, no doubt if a homeowner is considering a move, or a buyer wants to purchase - they definitely should call YOU.

Joan Cox thanks, Joan. I'm always amazed at how many people think they know how to do what we do because they read something on-line or did it 20 years ago!

Abby Stiller hi Abby... I think I'd be "happy" if only 50% of those in my area thinking of selling or buying would call me! ![]()

Nina- excellent. I think that many sellers don't realize that the process doesn't stop once you put that For Sale sign out there. And even if you do get an offer, this is often when an agent truly shows their value.

Will Hamm thanks, Will, for the kind comment. Wishing you a lovely Saturday.
Kathy Streib hi Kathy... I always tell sellers that if all they want is to put a sign in the ground, put an ad in the paper... they don't really need me.
Nina that graphic is an excellent piece to share with Buyers and Sellers.

Hi Nina Hollander,
I love this blog. Not only do you touch on all the right subjects, but you also don't overpower and turn off the reader. It has just the right amount of emphasis that keeps the buyer or seller engaged. Kudos!

Good morning Nina Hollander ,
Excellent post and so glad to see Kathy Streib feature it in her "Ah-ha" moments for the week. Should have earned a gold star..the AR Gods must be sleeping! Many sellers just don't understand all that goes into selling a home besides placing a sign in the ground. Nice job of explaining.

Wow - this post is just filled with so much information that it really is a one stop shop. I love the backlinks - in addition to being a great resource for buyers and sellers, your blogs are a great master class for bloggers like myself to learn how the real pros do it.

Hi Nina:
This is really a top-notch post, and something every buyer and seller should read. While that likely won't happen hopefully the ones in your area will, and then they'll pick up the phone.
