OK, I had a slow day last Wednesday. My office administrator was off to a class, and I had caught up on all of my calls and real estate related duties for the morning, and then a robo call came in. If you're like me, you get so tired of them. It's not unusual to have 20 or more a day at the office.
We have three phone lines in our office and on occasion, they will ring one after another with the same robo-caller. It's infuriating. This past Wednesday I decided to do something about it. Apparently, the Do Not Call list does not work on business phones, and asking to be removed from a list just adds you to another list.
So, for one hour, I blocked my number and called the robo-caller on our least used line. I left the line hang open to keep their line open. Each call lasted about 60 seconds before their phone line disconnected. I just reached over and hit redial and let the good times roll. I did leave the speaker on my phone on so I could hear their response. I wish I had recorded it. It was hilarious hearing them talk about being annoyed by the random calls.
My goal was to measure out a little of what I receive everyday. They didn't like it and became annoyed. Mission accomplished. I rarely have that much free time to play, but it was time well spend. I thought, I should get 1000 others to join me one day to do the same. Even if we each did 10 minutes for one hour, we could keep their phones line tied up so they weren't annoying someone else. A guy can dream.
