A Subdivision Divided by Derision!
For some people, peace and quiet reign over all else. Noises that were once welcome, become intolerant, unacceptable! Splashing in the pool, unbridled laughter or a child's squeals can assimilate to sharp fingernails scraping across a chalk board.
Single-minded home owners in a condo community have now prioritized turning the age-diverse subdivision into an all adult subdivision. They depend on a low voter turnout to achieve the desired wishes, despite overwhelming pushback.
Rather than change their circumstances by finding another community that caters to the 55+ consumer, members of the Board rally together, in an effort to make everyone else bend to the intended goal. No matter the cost to surrounding neighbors.
Potential pitfalls of changing to a senior community:
- Homeowners may get less for their home when they sell
- Smaller percentage of buyers looking for a 55+ community
- Buyers will not appreciate the grandfathered diverse group in place
Plus, the youthful dynamic within may experience petty complaints, undue harassment because they are on the outs, no longer an integral part of the community. When part of an active Home Owner's Association, let your voice be heard LOUD and CLEAR and VOTE!
Otherwise, decisions that can adversely affect everyone but a small group of people, will be made without you.
