DOG APPRECIATION DAY - With 1 Stunning Omission
Well folks - today is Dog Appreciation Day. August 26, 2019.
NOT to be confused with:
Love Your Pet Day (February)
Walking the Dog Day (February)
International Dog Biscuit Appreciation Day (March)
National Puppy Day (March)
Pet Owner’s Independence Day (April)
Mutt’s Day (July)
Work like a Dog Day (August)
National Dog Day (August)
National Pet Memorial Day (September)
Dogs in Politics Day (September)
Do we love our dogs or what?
You see, there’s a designated wacky or bizarre holiday for every day of the year - think
Fruitcake Toss Day
Appreciate a Dragon Day
Be Nasty Day
Waffle Iron Day
World Sauntering Day
Eat Beans Day
Embrace Your Geekness Day
Learn Your Name in Morse Code Day
Worship of Tools Day
Yet in all this hilarity I must point out a void that is stunning in its absence:
There is no mention (or even honorable mention) of . . .
Anything related to real estate!
There is NO:
National Real Estate Broker Appreciation Day
National Buy/Sell a House Day
Let’s Write that Contract Day
You Want to Offer WHAT? for it Day
Pay Cash for a House Day
Apply for a Mortgage Day
Yippee It’s Inspection Day
National Mold and Asbestos Day
- Termite Day
The closest I could find were:
Clean Your Refrigerator Day (November)
Homemade Bread Day (November)
National Roof Over Your Head Day (December)
And we all know they don’t COUNT!
Get my drift here? How easy would it be to eliminate of few of these inane and useless days I mentioned and replace them with some of my suggestions. One lousy day dedicated to Home Sweet Home - is that too much to ask?

In the meantime, back to the dogs. Mine’s at the groomer’s today so you can bet I’ll be appreciative when she returns home tonight!
