Hi, Jeff Dowler, CRS . I can't believe that I had two people reach out to me in less than 24 hours because of the inaccurate information on zillow. Well that happens. I hope to get some information about where zillow gets it's information. Let us see what happens.

Hi Debbie - what an odd coincidence. Your post brings forth an issue of concern for the public of inaccuracies that can be seen online.
PS - good to see you back posting on ActiveRain.

Debbie,
What a pleasure to see you on AR again. What a disservice Zillow is doing with false data. I hope this gets resolved for all concerned. Welcome back! A

Hi Debbie Laity ,
So good to see a post from you! I'd say it was a very odd coincidence that you had 2 calls from clients about inaccuracies on Zillow! Not that I'm surprised..I'm not but good grief why does the public keep following them?

Thank you for sharing this issue with Zillow and a homeowner. People wouldn’t believe it otherwise

I am in the unfortunate position of foreclosing on a neighbor for non-payment of monthly common charges (HOA fees is the term used in the rest of the country) - since I am also my condo board President. 5 1/2 years in the courts, so far and counting (and 10+ years since the owner defaulted- the previous board didn't take any signficant action). Zillow did previously record the pre-foreclosure accurately. Early this year, the judge finally ruled in our favor- but it's still a long road- perhaps another year before we can take possession. In the meanwhile, when the court ruled in the condo associations favor- Zillow recorded the foreclosure as a closed sale- but that is no where near accurate, though I could see how in that instance it was a data issue. Hopefully this nightmare ends sooner- but the courts here are insane. Even if we have legal ownership in a few months- it will likely take another 6 months to a year to evict. Oh, did I mention the owner owes the condo association more than $300,000? That is a house in many parts of the country. Insane!

Thank Caroline,
The owner kept fighting us and fighting us and fighting us (mostly with regard to legal fees and the fact that she doesn't want to accept her situation as real) - so instead of selling and keeping the substantial amount of equity she would have had- she is now close to break even. The bank attempted to foreclose before us- but instead they have poor risk protocols (I previously managed finance risk management training at investment banks- so I have an idea of the weaknesses inheriant in their processes) and instead they modified the mortgage ignoring the condo association in the process. It's just a mess. She couldn't qualify to refinance- but selling was an easy solution.
sad story... the owner probably could have financed the $300000 and sold the unit, better solution for the owner and the neighbors. Z picked up the NOD the coop filed as in foreclosure, which in some employee at Z is same as sort of same as ...

Hi there! Yes, Zillow often gives us chances to practice patience!
Here's a number one calls to report issues - 888-466-3501
Actually that is the number for agents who pay Zillow to give out their names to call when they have an issue to resolve. No reason why you could not call the Agent Hotline to report those errors - right? Maybe something might get resolved after a call there!
All the best - Lynn

Good morning, Debbie Laity that's totally outrageous and I hope you can find some information about what the hell they're doing.... that's a lousy way to make their phones ring....someone needs to do something about Z...

Once again, zillow is wrong! I can’t begin to tell you how many times I have tried to correct information on zillow with no success. My personal pet peeve is when you are listing a property that has been listed before and the old pictures populate before you can even add the new pictures to the MLS! It takes hours and hours of begging and pleading to get them down and add the new ones.

Hi Debbie... I've had experiences dealing with Zillow and will do most anything not to have to repeat them -- the stuff of mightmares. We have to really make a "project" out of letting the public know how wrong Zillow is so much of the time.
I have to say you put a smile on my face, no not laughing at Z, well maybe that too, but welcome back. I was wondering if we would see you back one day posting again. There is a football season about to start up we need talk about..... Conhratulations on the feature Debbie Laity

Just to throw something on the www and making people believe it is true. I wonder what liability Z has posting by oding so.
Sam Shueh Zillow doesn't seem to have any liability - they're the teflon website!
I get regular calls from Zillow sales people telling me about all the great leads they have for my area - sign up quick! Jokesters.
Dear Debbie,
Maybe this means there will be a few consumers, who no longer take this site's information as gospel. They started something interesting, but as with all companies, excecution can be a problem. Especially when the focus changes to making as much money as possible off the people they were originally trying to serve.

Hello Debbie and good to see you in the rain. I can not believe that zillow does something dumb again. Figures.
Not just once in a while are they wrong... Zillow knows knothing about real estate... they are a marketing company that wants to take over real estate and eliminate the realtor.
That is just crazy Debbie! I used to hate Zillow, but now look at them as somewhat of an 'ally'. I mean they are very often inaccurate and it gives me and my team a way of building trust and repoire with a prospect.
Here's something funny. The CEO of Zillows (Spenser Rascoff) personal house actually sold for 40% less than the 'zestimate' That just made me laugh.
Thanks for the great content!
Blessings
I feel bad for the people that are so influenced by fake news and don't realize that zillow is filled with it.
So many swear on Zillow being great but as a Realtor I believe they are terrible.
Sounds oh so familiar, I won't say anything else as I have a collegue who is on the Zillow war path.
Hi Debbie Laity - good you see you posting. This is more "you can't make this stuff up" from Zillow.
Hello Missy Debbie Laity so good to see you! I can see your hard at work in CO. Dealing with this crazy Z stuff is so common these days......just shaking my head.
Hi, Michael Jacobs ...thanks for stopping by. I wish we could stop zillow, but I believe that beast is here to stay.

Hi, Ron and Alexandra Seigel ...the situation is still being looked into. I will stay after zillow. Business is good and strong. Hope you are experiencing the same.
Hi, Dorie Dillard CRS GRI ABR ...thanks for stopping by my post. It is a big coincidence this happened with two people in less than one day. I am doing my best to educate the public about the online property data sites and their inaccuracies.
Hi, Michelle Carr Crowe,Altas Just Call...408-252-8900! ...I am doing my best to educate the public, and we all need to do the same. Public education about the misinformation on property data websites will go a long way.
No one ever calls me to complain about Zillow. Maybe they realize that our Team, which does over 100 transactions per year, does not control, influence or understand what Zillow does.
We just wonder why so many people take the Z information as gospel.
Wow, Debbie, how terrible for that person who has their home listed as pre-forclosure but isn't in it. People check those things, and do believe them - and make judgements on those listed. I hope they fix it - and quickly.
what I truly love is that sellers dont understand that we have NOTHING to do with what goes on Zillow and what it says!
I just can't believe how many people still believe Zillow and Zestimates - and think the agents who are linked to Zillow are the best in the biz. Frustrating. D
Fake News & Z go hand-in-hand, don't they, Debbie?!
SO glad to see you back here posting. Happy Sunday!
Hi Debbie: What a coincidence that you started to post again here on AR the same day I came back here too. It's been awhile. As to Zillow, people take it as gospel. And they access it just because it comes up first in search engines all the time.
Hi Debbie:
You have given a couple good examples of the inaccuracies that we see on Zillow often. It's such a diservice to the real estate community, and unfortunately consumers tend to believe what they see on Z.
I had a listing where the history of sales was way off - they had included the information on a home 2 hours away that had a similar address but was not even remotely like the subject. I wrote emails, the seller did, and we could not get it corrected.
