The Cone of Certainty, and other Wednesday giggles

The cartoon above is dedicated to Barbara Todaro.  She does a terrific job of keeping in shape and motivating us to do the same.

This morning, there was an all-clear here in Orlando, and so, of course, I ventured down to the favorite hang out on Park Ave. and had one of these with coffee:

If you missed my previous blog on the hurricane that just PassedOver, please go here.  I don't know if I can beat that blog and feel I am at the end of my digital rope...

One of the last photos posted about the hurricane is really cute and I feel it needs another look.  These are Floridians waiting for the next Big One:

But perhaps the funniest thing I've seen on this subject is my son's take on the Cone of Uncertainty:

Good afternoon Michelle. I understand why you dedicated this to Barbara Todaro. Funny. Glad you were not impacted by the storm.

John Henry - The cone of certainty is hilarious! I can only imagine what it's like when the two of you get together. Loved the cartoon too! I'm glad to hear the coast is clear. You did some intensive writing on that last post. Thank you for keeping us updated. I loved the meerkats too! Floridians are all special animals, even the ones that walk on two legs and walk on beaches.

I really appreciate the comic relief. It was getting too intense down there in Florida. I'm glad you can laugh and focus on something more enjoyable.

Hi, Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP

We are totally exhausted and The Weather Channel is off limits for 11 months now... I had the meerkats slated for another purpose but these guys just epitomized the shock and awe of listening to bloviating forecasting for 8 straight days.  And it's not over.

My son is a chip off the old block.  My Dad could eat a gallon of ice cream in one sitting.  From Texas, he was.  I had some great homemade ice cream at my aunt and uncle's place.  Once you have homemade, there is only Bluebell left.  Ha.  Thanks for your condolences!

John Henry - Staying indoors, waiting for the BIG one, being boarded up with nowhere to go for 8 days sounds as insane as a Chinese Torture Treatment. I can imagine some old couple sitting on a chair, wearing traveling clothes. In close proximity is a smelly dog laying on the floor next to the old plaid suitcase that has duct tape holding it together. The roof that got rejected by the Home Owner's Insurance Company from the last Hurricane is still leaking. The only good spot to sit is where they get one drip at a time on their heads. Meanwhile, some homeless guy with a braid six feet long, under his armpits, sits outside on the beach with a sign that read, "The sky is falling!" And in the distance, the Meerkats huddle and are thanking their Creator that they are not humans!

For your sake, I'm glad it's over! I have been living here in TX for 22 years and never tasted Bluebell Ice Cream. But I see it in grocery stores all the time.

I think you need a vacation to the Mediterranean to decompress - you deserve it!!!

Hi John - I believe giggles of many kinds belong as a part of life.  As for threatening storms, wasteful food consumption and other disasters, not so much.

John- BarbaraT came to mind as I was reading the comic. As I've been saying to my friends who've asked me...yes, Larry and I are so happy that we did not have to go through the ups and downs of waiting for Dorian. And now, it is after 10 pm and after watching your son's Cone of Uncertainty I really wish I had an Ice cream cone. Darn!

Morning John.

Your son has it right.  It's been a long time since I've had a cone of certainty.

Well, this is a refreshing take...a sense of humor goes a long way in diffusing tense situations. And yes,  like father, like son.  And that's a good thing.  D

Yes, John Henry,we made it through and survived all the bad weather forecast for here in Orlando.  I would say perhaps we are all mentally and physically exhausted  -- no weather stations for a while, please.  We were very lucky but somehow your photo of the meerkats,  think I see some of me in that photo :)

So sorry for all who suffered tragedy and financial loss,  those now displaced and homeless.  I believe  the sweet roll in your photo or a piece of Baklava or Galaktoboureko might go a long way right now.
