I can help find the missing puzzle piece

By
Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker United Realtors® ~ 512.750.6899

Thank you Debe Maxwell, CRS for hosting the September challenge in Active Rain. It's so appropriate at this time of year especially this year with the media insisting there is a recession! The politically motivated news media are trying to talk our nation into a recession but anyone observant of consumer behavior and reading economic data are not buying it!

How will I as a NW Austin Realtor® educate my clients and consumers with regard to new market challenges? It's MY job to educate and answer questions (which I do on a daily basis). I know my market inside and out and I've experienced the ups and down of buyer and seller markets. I defer to the 3 A's..Anticipate, Adapt and Adjust. We are coming up to the fourth quarter of 2019 and it's been a very good year!

I will continue to post on my blog, send mailers and talk individually answering any and all questions! I don’t pretend to be an economist but I have eyes and ears and keep up every day with economic reports and will give honest, sound advice.

My ears are not listening to the politically driven news media. I’m in the field everyday talking with sellers, buyers, moving companies, restaurant owners, bankers, dry cleaning establishments, etc. and guess what?  Business is booming!! Hiring signs are every where, consumers are spending, saving money and most of all happy and optimistic about their future.

A comment on a post in AR by Dennis Michael Erickson (anonymous) caught my attention: “Recessions are natural in our capitalistic system, it’s a cleansing phenomenon - much like fire cleanses a forest and allows new growth to occur. However, the fire should start with a lightning strike and not a can of gasoline and a match by a politically motivated press.” A lot of truth in this statement.

Just yesterday I had a call from a client who wants to buy a lot in a subdivision that is  coming online further outside of Austin. Land prices are escalating and they know they won’t be able to afford it in 5-7 years so want to lock it down. YES they should buy! They have some investment money burning a hole in their pocket and what better investment than in real estate?

The sky is not falling....Austin is expanding at an unprecedented growth and people are moving here for job opportunities and a better quality of life and need a home! I’m here to counsel buyers and sellers through the process and will continue to stay focused and answer the multitude of difficult questions.

I'll help find the missing piece of information....It's what I do. Presenting an accurate picture to the consumer is important so they can make an informed decision. I don't pretend to have all the answers but I can give you an informative, common sense approach......I'm in the trenches very day and am here for you!

Since 1981 I've been fortunate to watch Austin grow and evolve.....mature and wrestle with the pains of rapid expansion. I wake up thankful to do this job, in our town with such great people!

Hi Dorie - I like your 3 A's and how you help your clients realize that the sky is not falling. I'm not sure the doom and gloom are politically motivated -- news media has always accentuated and featured the bad since fear sells better than tranquility. We can help our clients not buy into that, and you are doing a good job.

Dorie the news media no longer reports the news.  THEY TRY TO CREATE IT INSTEAD.  The news media has basically become an extension of one political party, so everything they say comes from a political motivation.

Dorie- what an excellent post!  You have a level and educated head on your shoulder and make your decisions based on what you see, read, and analyze, not from what newspaper headlines say.

Dorie Dillard CRS GRI ABR - What an outstanding post! I enjoyed reading every word! I read it first as a Real Estate Agent and the second time as a Consumer.

From a consumer's perspective, you gave me the confidence to go on, move forward, and trust you to be my Agent.

Congratulations on a well-deserved FEATURE!

My particular insight to business rumours is who is going to benefit from this information financially and in what way?  It all comes back to the money, so let's find out what the motives are all about.  Is the news of the day so boring (BORING)??? that the "media" is starting talk of a recession?  Let's see, the BIG recession was 2008-2009 so someone decided it was time for another one?  In real estate, whether it is up or down, last year to this year to next year YOU will always do OK if you own a piece of the rock. Real estate is the get rich slow scheme!

Morning Dorie.

I wasn't disappointed as I saw this was a feature.  If one does not do the three "A's" with an outlook of at least 6 months, they may be in trouble

Dorie,

Austin is a prime area in Texas, very desirable and you will continue to thrive. I am in Texas this weekend, I wish I was in the area, so we could go to lunch.

By the way I messaged you months ago on Instagram. What do you use to create your Insta videos?

Thank you,

Lauren

Great post and glad to hear Austin is really doing well.  It's been hot for a long time and it seems things should continue to do well as the fundamentals haven't changed much at all.  I like your three A's too!  Thanks for a shot in the arm.

Love, love, love this entry and I just realized that I hadn't made a comment here yet, Dorie! I fully agree - we're not economists but, we DO specialize in our businesses and are highly visible (BUSY) agents, with boots on the ground. We DO know our areas and we DO talk to buyers and sellers every single day.

It boggles the mind that anyone in America would prefer to report negativity, especially when it, ultimately, can impact our nation's economy. Sadly, they want their agenda at any cost. I'm thrilled that agents like you are getting the word out to the masses - or, should I say the TRUTH?!

Thanks for participating, Dorie - GREAT entry!

Lenders are looking for new business and are willing to lend with terms and conditions that are unbelievable to the consumer. Now is the time to buy or refi. Lots of help wanted signs everywhere I go, so the economy is booming, businesses are busy and consumers are spending their money.
