While going through my Sherwin Williams paint deck the other day I realized something. There is one particular paint strip I always go back to. This strip is home to some of the greats, Eider White, Repose Gray, Mindful Gray, Dorian Gray, Dovetail, Gauntlet Gray and Black Fox.
Yes there are a ton of neutral gray options in the paint deck and yes they are amazing colors but why do I tend to always go back to this one strip?
First of all, these colors are in the neutral gray family which of course is great for home sellers and buyers alike. Neutrals are always a safe paint color choice, especially grays. It makes it easy for homebuyers to envision themselves and their decor in the home without any crazy wall color distraction. This is why, if you are selling a home it's wise to choose a neutral color for the walls.
Secondly, the colors on this paint strip are all neutral grays. Meaning, they don't have any strong or overwhelming undertones like blue, or yellow. In terms of warm and cool color, they are on the warm side however, they are balanced enough with the cool tones that they never look overly warm. Just a hint of warmth and that warmth helps keep any of the colors from looking cold or icy. They are all perfectly balanced with warm and cool tones.
I love these colors so much that I used them in my own home. One day I decided it was time for a paint color change and I ended up using Repose Gray on all my downstairs walls and hallways, Dorian Gray in the master bedroom, Mindful Gray in the Guest room and Dovetail on all the interior doors. I couldn't be happier with the results.
The other thing I love about these colors that since I have used then in my own home as well as in customers' homes, I know they work in many different decor settings. For example, my home is more of a vintage farmhouse style and these colors blended in beautifully. A recent customer's home was very traditional and we used Mindful Gray and it made for a gorgeous background to the furnishings.
It's safe to say I'll continue to use these amazing colors. I also highly suggest checking them out if you are in the market for a few fantastic neutrals.
