To be honest, we have not had this question asked to us in our Real Estate Business. You know what I'm talking about...The "R" word.


If the media is spreading this message, well the media is not listening in on our phone conversations, and they do not know what our buyers and sellers are asking. They may be promoting negative news bulletins, but they haven't been to our many closings, and don't know about our future ones lined up!


We say - Stay away from the negative news...


Every market is different. Where some markets may see a dip, others can flourish. Housing patterns are not all the same, and we tell our clients that there is a strong demand for housing. At least in our business there is.


Our buyers and sellers are asking us about inventory, or the lack thereof. Buyers are asking us to keep them alerted on new listings. Our sellers are feeling positive about getting offers.


Our buyers Rocco and Nancy aren't waiting to hear positive or negative news from the media. They are excited about us helping them find a home with a new construction builder.


Tommy and Rosa are waiting for the arrival of their new baby and looking forward to starting their home finding journey with us.


Our sellers Norman and Rachel are going to list their large colonial home in Suffolk County, and work with us to find them a more leisure lifestyle condo. They aren't listening to any of the negative chatter.


And There's More...


Geri and Daniel are getting married and don't want to waste money on renting.


Ian and Evelyn are moving back to Long Island to be near their grandchildren and have never rented and said they never will.


Tori just got a new job and is relocating to Long Island and doesn't want to put money in a landlord's pockets. 


None of these buyers are listening to the rumors, the noise, the hearsay...


Rising employment rates and an improved economy is what our clients are enthusiastic about.


Bottom Line:  What will we tell our clients if they ask? Don't let the buzz from the media come between you and your housing needs!

I think media is terrible these days, it is impossible to decipher fact from fiction in the media, so I treat it all as fiction.

Oh, I love the positivity, Sheila - GREAT post and thank you for participating in the challenge! 

I'm also with you about staying away from the negative news. I am getting the 'R' question daily from clients and potential clients and most of them agree that it's nothing more than media hype when I share the factual data with them.

Here in Carmel California, I just don't hear the "R" word although our market is probably a little flat but that's because we have so many high end homes for sale. But then they end up buying a higher priced property right next door in Pebble Beach.  Go figure.
