Bad Tax Assessment? No Problem!

By
Education & Training with KLSM CPA Firm, PLLC

Have you been assessed with tax debt that you don’t owe? Believe it or not, it happens more often than you think. Perhaps a business issued a 1099 incorrectly, you had an IRS audit or maybe you had an IRS appeal that was never heard.

Whatever the situation may be, if you have been wrongly assessed, don’t fear! There are options available to challenge the IRS and reopen these types of bad assessments.

We can consider the following options:

  • Audit Reconsideration
  • Doubt-as-to-Liability Offer
  • Collection Due Process hearing
  • Refund Litigation
  • Bankruptcy

The option selected to resolve the clients' tax matter depends entirely on the their situation. Is the client seeking a refund, looking to close out the matter or are additional creditors are involved.

To discuss a bad assessment of tax debt you don’t owe or any other tax issue, please contact me directly via email at Tax@klsm-cpa.com.

Krystin Mitchell, CPA CFE glad you feel comfortable dealing with the IRS, because they make me very nervous.  That is why I go above and beyond to be above board with them.  I do not take any chance when it comes to the IRS.

Hi Kyrstin! What wonderful advice to share and I know there are a LOT of people who need tax advice! Like Dorie Dillard CRS GRI ABR, my personal and business taxes are done ON TIME (truly, early)! I'm always surprised to see how few of our peers file on time. In fact, this time of year, we're often hearing about them filing taxes. I think I would have had a heart attack had I not filed on time one year! LOL

Hello Krystin - when it comes to matters like this, having professional representation definitely matters.  It shows.
