First Steps Toward Home Ownership

Real Estate Broker/Owner with PrimeSouth Properties

Real Estate is a great way to start saving your well earned monies for the future.  Buying a home is always a great time in a persons life.  It announces to the world that I have arrived, I am successful, I am smart.  It makes sense, especially for first time home buyers and / or for those who are actually buying a second home or an investment property to check with a real estate expert for the latest changes to this process.  It is a complicated process especially for the low experienced buyer and seller.  It can be done without an agent but I would not recommend it.

1.  The first thing you should do is interview several agents to find the agent who has the experience and skills to guide you through this process.  Experience does matter.

2.  The second thing you need to do, is determine how you are intending to finance the purchase.  There are numerous ways to accomplish this including cash.  Again, your agent can advise and recommend several lenders who might suit your needs.  If you are buying out of market, I.E. in an area you are not totally familiar with, it makes to use an in market lender.  Again Experience Does Matter.

3.  Pre-Approval is the next step and this will give you an idea of how much you can and want to obligate your self to on a monthly basis.  Here are 5 things you need for preapproval.

Being pre-approved makes your offer more attractive to the seller and the sellers agent.  It can take as little as a few hours, but can save weeks of time during the home searching process! An offer that is accompanied with a pre-approval letter makes a statement.  I am a serious buyer.  I want this house.  Want to learn more?
