Contrary to what you might think, the IRS doesn't want to Levy your property, but they will. I represent taxpayers in Klamath Falls and through out Oregon filing tax returns, resolving tax debt and solving IRS issues. An IRS Levy is one of the tools used by the IRS to get taxpayers to come in and set up an IRS payment plan. The best way to avoid an IRS Levy is to respond to all IRS notices in a timely fashion. Call, or write the IRS Collections division and begin negotiations on an IRS Installment plan. There are several payment plan options available, depending on your situation. You may also qualify for an Offer-in Compromise, or Uncollectible status, as ways to resolve your tax debt, before a levy is issued. IRS Levies are sometimes difficult to get released, and you are always better off avoiding one than negotiating for the release of an IRS Levy.
