In the confrontation between the stream and the rock,
the stream always wins -
not through strength but by perseverance.
- The Buddha
Without perseverance, things stay stagnant. A stream that goes dry and doesn't flow has consequences. While some people may believe in order to succeed one must be a positive thinker, I would agree that positive thinking is nice and polite, but positive action is by far more effective. To be somebody's rock is also nice and kind but what chance does the rock have of moving forward if all it is, is a means for someone to lean upon? As the Buddha said, "In the confrontation between the stream and the rock, the stream always wins - not through strength but by perseverance."
The average adult body is 50% to 65% water. I like to think of the water content as the stream within me. Therefore, in order to persevere, I must keep moving by implementing positive action daily. A rock can get crushed or never move. A good healthy stream keeps flowing. Sometimes I may feel like I am between a rock and a hard spot and positive thinking could be a good thought; however, positive action will more than likely get results. Thoughts are free-flowing, just like the stream. I dream of goals being achieved for myself and others and that's why I love being a Real Estate Agent.
