Oooooh…It’s Full Moon Friday The 13th 2019

By
Real Estate Agent with United Realty Group

A full moon is extraordinary on Friday the 13th as it happens once every 20 years or so according to the Farmers Almanac. The last one took place on Oct. 13, 2000. After this one,  Friday the 13, 2019, the next one is expected to appear on Aug. 13, 2049.

Friday the 13th is a very unusual day. There are many throughout history that equate Friday the 13th with bad luck while others think it it a positive day.

Let’s look at the most popular school of thought and have a bit of ghoulish fun!

Fear of Friday the 13th is also known as Paraskevidekatriaphobia.   If you can pronounce this word even one time, you get one wish.  It's your choice as to how you would like to use this wish.

Let’s back track to the beginning of our evolution when it was written that on Friday the 13th, Eve gave Adam the notorious apple. We know what happened after that....it took a long time for womens rights again.

Moving forward in time brings us to King Philip IV of France. This is also one of the most popular theories as to why Friday the 13th is so feared.

One of the most popular theories as to the rise and fear of Friday the 13th came about during the reign of King Philip IV of France.  According to historian, Dan Jones, he  tells  the “true” story of this legendary armed religious order called the Knights of the Templar that began during the crusades to protect the European Christians from  being slaughtered on their way to visit the Holy Land.

During this time also, the Knights of Templar went from protecting pilgrims during the Crusades to controlling a vast financial empire. The King did not like this and on Friday, October 13, 1307, scores of French Templars were arrested, tortured and killed. It was the fall of the infamous Knights of Templar.

Black Cats and Friday the 13th

How did black cats get caught up in Friday the 13th?

It was thought that witches turn their cats to black. Remember those movies with the witches stirring the kettle with the pointed hat and black cat?

Another popular cat fear occurs even when its not Friday the 13th. What happens when a black cat crosses your path?

Let me know when you find out.

Another popular theory is  that when a woman owns a black cat she will have many suitors.

Hmmm… maybe we should include this on popular dating sites.

Ok, enough of the scary evil side of Friday the 13th.

What Are Some Positive Views Of Friday the 13th?

President Lyndon B. Johnson signed an executive order preventing gender discrimination in the government on October 13, 1967

The first scientifically recognized dinosaur eggs were discovered on July 13, 1923.

And lastly, for now, Friday the 13th always precedes the weekend. Yay!!!
