Hits And Misses

Hits And Misses

Hits and Misses  It's rare(I can't recall ever using one) that I include a baseball reference of any sort in a post.  So it might come as a bit of a surprise that I mention the Los Angeles Dodgers and the team's clinching their seventh consecutive National League West division champshionship earlier this month.

I mean, there's still time until talk of another World Series game is played or a win is reported despite what some local sports media outlets may say/predict.

When it comes to hits and misses, we can see comparisons to everyday life.  More hits.  Fewer misses  That's the way it hopefully works.  In baseball and in life.

You may see a connection in these words from a well-known Dodger:

There are three types of baseball players:

Those who make it happen,

those who watch it happen

and those who wonder what happens.

                                        Tommy Lasorda

Michael, I don't really follow baseball, even though we have the Rockies here in Denver.

Hi Michael... if you ask me... there are three kinds of people, in general:

Those who make it happen,

those who watch it happen

and those who wonder what happens.

In baseball, if you get a hit 30 out of 100 times it is considered to be very successful.  How many things in life would we consider as a failure if we only succeeded with 30% of the time?

I am a huge baseball fan so I love this time of year (for many reasons...but baseball is at the top of that list). Great quote.

I had the same thought as Nina Hollander - you can pretty much sum it all up this way.

Michael,

I had no idea what the Dodgers were up to this year...And the quote by Tommy Lasorda is perfect.  I had the opportunity to meet his son at a wedding we hosted at our home in LA.  He was the epitome of nice, and we were saddened that he died so young.  A

Kathy Streib - indeed they are.

James Dray - exactly like real life.

Wayne Martin - amazing how that happens, huh?

Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®, CRS - and may your weekend be extraordinary.

Joan Cox - a score card is not necessary to follow some "games" we see in life.

Nina Hollander - generally, I agree.

Brian England - I know that statistic is often repeated.  It's quite true, isn't it?

Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty - your New York Met allegiance is one that I know.  Damn Yankees is more than a mere musical for you.

Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD - the legend that is pure Lasorda.

Ron and Alexandra Seigel - it's amazing what tidbits of information I can pick up at times.

Michael Jacobs - The analogy of life decisions to baseball is perfect! That's a great quote. Every day we can make a choice to make, watch, or wonder. What happens, is up to you...

Now that's a lot to ponder!!!

Oh, I so agree with Lasorda's quote when it comes to real estate too, Michael! I wasn't sure where you were going with this but, great analogy!

Ponder on, my friend!

Debe Maxwell, CRS - I thought the quote was a good match for the post and the concept.   As for pondering, I have been doing it for a long time.  I don't see it ending.  Here or in real life.

Michael Jacobs , that is an excellent comparison - 'Hits and Misses' to daily life and the fact to keep on believing in oneself and going for those Home Runs.
