Earle Dickson was born in Grandview, Tennessee back in 1892. Talk about a short one, this is it. He was a cotton buyer for Johnson & Johnson. One day his wife cut herself, so he took some gauze on the cut and wrapped it with portions of her petticoat.
To cut to the chase he put some gauze on a roll of tape, thus he invented what we know as the BAND-AID. He was instantly promoted to vice-president of the company, staying there until his retirement. He died in Kitchener, Canada at 68.
