Open House Events To Strengthen Your Brand & Market Your Listings

The market continually experiences corrections. We were going full force listing property within the past 2 months. Now, another correction has hit!!

We are not the only area where this is happening. Listings are coming our way, but it’s not enough to knock you over! It has slowed.

When this happens, do you think about beefing up your marketing, visibility and branding. Do you think about new ways to “pump up” your brand? This is the ideal time to do that because we will soon see another correction and increase in listings. Those who are “top of mind” will have listings.

I’m a firm believer on history repeating itself. We’ve been experiencing this type of unstable sellers’ market for a couple of years.

Open house events are a great branding tool, as well as marketing platform for listings. That’s taking full advantage of visitors and many sets of eyes and ears.

We have an open house event happening on Sunday, with a high end property, in a very desirable neighborhood. That’s an ideal time to market yourself and your listing.

It’s most important that the listing agents host the open house events. It’s actually counterproductive for a nonproductive agent to “fill in” as the host for an open house. No one knows the listing as well as the listing agent. Let that statement be a part of your marketing plan. We don’t list ‘em and leave ‘em.

All of these minor details are a reflection of who you are in the real estate business. Present yourself in the very best light. Make that “brand” shine. Don’t be just another real estate agent. There are already too many!!!

I value all of the benefits of open house events….marketing and branding always happen there!!!

Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland the listing agent should be there and make the most out of every open house..... market the home prior to the open and then use that open to be visible and make sure the visitors love everything you do and how you do it.... BE MEMORABLE..... THAT'S BRANDING!!!!

Hello Barbara - as expected, wise words.  A link to your profile should be included in the next edition of the Utah School of Real Estate syllabus but you don't need that headache.

BarbaraT- this is another example of marketing like you mean it. If there is a correction in the market, don't step back or sit down. Keep your name out there because things will change.

I love being a good host at a open house. I make sure I make contact with everyone who walks in the front door. I have been ignored as a guest in an open house and that can really screw up your brand Barbara Todaro

Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®, CRS why would a host of an open house ignore a visitor.... that makes NO SENSE....

Morning Barbara.

Like you said, no one knows the home like the listing agent.

Barbara Todaro - When it comes to holding an open house for your own listing, I'm a believer, nobody does it better than you. Of course, there may be times when the listing agent can't be in more than one place at the same time. When that happens, don't let anyone hold an open house, use someone you know and trust.

Barbara, thank you for always providing outstanding blog posts that are meaningful and well-written content. The world needs more people like you.

Interesting take on being prepared for a changing market.

Part of my branding is quality over quantity....I just cringe when I see new MLS listings without any photos and one sentence for a description, no fliers at the house.   Recently near one of my listings another agent listed a house with all of those lazy or unorganized shortcomings, then hosted an open house and didn't even bother to sweep the deck leading to the front door....Makes me wonder are the sellers asleep and not monitoring what's happening?

While I know that many agents would rather suffer from a rash that host an open house, out Team looks upon the chance to host a listing open as a "business opportunity" and not a waste of time. I will be holding two different properties open this weekend. I look forward to meeting new people and to the opportunity to do more business.
