An ActiveRain Challenge for October 2019 - In My Past Life I…

Some here on ActiveRain may have moved into their full-time role as a REALTOR, or mortgage officer, or some other real-estate related position as their first “real” career. But most of us had one or more prior careers before transitioning into the real estate business.

THE CHALLENGE:

Tell us about your previous career, and your path to becoming a licensed real estate professional, staging professional, home inspector, mortgage officer, title or escrow officer, real estate consultant, and so on.

Our gallery - MARK GALLERY - in Cambridge 2002 - 2005

Mark Gallery Cambridge in 2003

Here are some things you can talk about:

What was your prior career? Or talk about more than 1!

What did you enjoy, or perhaps not like, about your prior career/job?

What issues or desires brought you to the real estate business that you did not experience in your past professional life? Simply, what attracted you to the real estate business?

How DID you find the real estate role you are in?!

You should also share how your prior career has contributed to your success in the real estate business. Here are some questions you could write about – your choice:

What skills did you acquire in your prior career(s) that have been especially helpful to you today, and how have they helped you?

What personal strengths do you bring to your current professional role?

Were there any life experiences that have helped you be the raging success you are?

Are there things you do now, and enjoy, in your real estate role that you could not/did not in your prior career?

Did you acquire any bad habits in the past that you had to break in your current role? Or perhaps are still working on?

Looking at the MLS onlineIf your current role is your first “real career” tell us about your skills and strengths that are contributing to your success in real estate.

What life experiences have been helpful to you? Are there some developmental areas that need work? And be sure to share what motivated you to more into the real estate business.

The challenge begins today, October 1, and ends at 11:59 PM PST on October 31, so you have plenty of time. Yes, that’s Halloween – Trick or Treat?! Don’t wait till the last minute in case you will be partying, trick or treating, or handing out goodies to kids in your neighborhood late into the evening!

THE RULES:

As always, there are a few rules in order to grab those 1000 bonus points:

1. Your post must be at least 250 words – this should be easy once you start writing about your past life and how you got to where you are in real estate!

2. Please include at least 1 original photo that’s relevant…perhaps something from your prior life, or your current one…or a video if you wish.

3. You must share a working link to your masterpiece in the comment section below before the deadline on 10/31/19 at 11:59 pm PST.

We look forward to learning more about you!! Have fun!

HI Jeff Dowler, CRS   Here is my first real job story...and it is has some fun parts and some not so fun parts.

https://activerain.com/blogsview/5428547/back---in-the-beginning---a-long--long-time-ago---a-long-story-

To those reading...there is a spot in the blog where I suggest stopping if you want.  Past that you will be intimately close to my life in my younger days.  I am not looking for support or vindication or sympathy or advice...but can tell you unequivically that this is what shaped my life as a real agent, managing broker, and most importantly as a husband and father.
