There's no place like home!
Although we hear a lot about people wanting to leave California for lots of reasons, it just may be a lot of talk. According to the California Association of Realtors 63% of Californians wouldn't move out of the state.
People complain about the high cost of living here in California but some places are more affordable than others. If you want to live in the San Francisco Bay Area or San Diego it will be very expensive. If you want to live in the Central Valley where I work and live it will be considerably less expensive.
Living in the Central Valley has other advantages besides being more affordable. Being right here in the middle of the state we are close to a lot of great things.
Easy day trips from the Central Valley include places like San Francisco, Monterey, Carmel, Half Moon Bay and other coastal locations to the west.
Going east you can visit Yosemite National Park, Calaveras Big Trees State Park and the wine country of Calaveras and Amador counties.
To the north is Sacramento with such sites as the Capitol Building, Old Town Sacramento and the California State Railroad Museum.
Of course you can stay at home and enjoy what we have to offer here in Stanislaus County. There is the Gallo Center for the Arts, numerous parks both large and small and one of my favorites the Dry Creek Trail.
With so much to do and see here in California I guess it's really not that surprising that most Californians don't want to leave.
