This Week...Rain and Floods
It’s been quite a week with the rains from Imelda. Many of our friends in Florida wanted to know if we were ready to move back there. (no!)
Some people feel the rain. Others just get wet. Bob Marley
We were very fortunate because the heavy rains were more to the south and southeast of where we live.
And when it rains on your parade, look up rather than down. Without the rain, there would be no rainbow. Gilbert K. Chesterton
Unfortunately, there are areas of the city that you can count on to flood, especially around Buffalo Bayou near downtown Houston.
The nicest thing about the rain is that it always stops. Eventually. Eeyore
Many people who were able to drive to work found that the roads were blocked coming home and had to wait hours and hours before the waters receded.
Do not be angry with the rain; it simply does not know how to fall upwards. Vladimir Nabokov
On our Friday morning walk, we wanted to see how much water was flowing in one of the large gullies that borders the Preserve. It’s not as much as I’m sure there was during Harvey but the Before (above) and After (below) may give you an idea of how much rain there was in one day.
Have a wonderful (and relatively dry) weekend!
