Barbara - the best way to over come fear is to do the thing you fear most.
The only way to overcome fear is to ignore it and move on!
The first is FEAR. Fear is internal; it’s in our head. Fear is the great crippler of human potential. There’s also an acronym that uses the letters F, E, A, and R that defines what fear is.

Good morning Grant. "False evidence appearing real" is a term I have repeated many times over the years. Thanks! Enjoy your day!

Good morning, Grant... the first time I heard the FEAR acronym, it really hit a note with me... and I never looked at fear again in the same way.

Such a great post, you are definitely a very good business coach! I think a lot of things come out of fear, whether it be fear for the future or whatever, it is certainly a great motivating factor to take action, rather than just speak words.

Grant,
What a great discussion on fear. Early one my parents encouraged me to face fear head on and keep trying to master it. I liked that acronym. Happy Monday, wishing you a great week. A

I love that saying: FEAR is False Evidence Appearing Real.
I have had that on my wall for many years. I suffered from being super shy all my life. With the advent of the internet and blogging-- it actually was the place I did not feel shy. Also, with public speaking, I love to speak in front of audiences but don't feel comfortable one on one.
I lived most of my life in fear because of being shy and missed many amazing opportunities. If I were to give advice to others when they are young, it would be, to work on not being shy because that will hold you back from getting what you deserve in life.

Sham - yes, that's right.
Wayne - thank you very much.
Nina - yes, it will have that effect.
Peter - thank you. I appreciate that.
Nick - that is good. If the goal is worthwhile we need to get past fair.
Brian - this really an obstacle that we can overcome.
Alexandra - yes, one of my parents did exactly the same.
Katerina - I appreciate your sharing of that. I was shy as a child but wanted to get out of it.
Grant, we are creatures of habit, and change can be difficult. There are times just slight shifts can make a difference.

Hi Grant Schneider,
Another great topic to address and promote conversation and ideas.
I find people get complacent and stuck in a routine and don't want to leave that warm silky cocoon. Sometimes you have to really sell the benefits and the WIFFM to open them up to new possibilities.

I am not afraid to admit i hate change, i like when things work well. But in this business you have to change and do it when needed. SO that is what i do and that keeps fear at bay. Waiting until it is too late is scrarier

Grant- another worthy motivational post. Change is difficult for most people. As it pertains to our goals, if it is moving away from us or in a direction we want, it may be time to reassess our goals and our actions.

I find that 'Change is always hard' and some of the reasons are simply because we like to be in our comfort zone.....getting out of our comfort zone translates to change.... anyway I have to keep telling inner self that "change is good". Great and timeless post Grant.

Changes in our business....hard to keep up! I think of the many changes I have gone through just starting 16 years ago. Yet ever time I read AR posts, seems there is some other technology I should be aware of and change with the times!

People have a tendency to be "comfortable" in their uncomfortableness.
Change means doing something differently --- the unknown -- FEAR is afraid of Fear.
Great FEATURE!

Hi Grant Schneider excellent post on change and leadership! Years ago I was part of a long standing leadership seminar. This post is pretty much spot on with what we taught. In particular we grew a lot of leaders in getting past their egos and their need to be right. It was always so great when they had a 'light bulb' moment and got it - particularily the guys. Many of us, to this say - Nope not my day to be right! My days is XXXXX! Joking and smiling of course. The other thing we concentrated on - fear is the oppostite of excitment! And boy did we create a lot of fear and excitement on the high ropes courses!! Fun!!

Remember; keep checking the condition of your cheese. Don't wait until it disappears or gets bad. Keep searching. Success is a constant journey of change.

Anna Banana Kruchten - Phoenix Homes Sales - we accomplish so much when we get together and talk it out. I am sure there were great results.
Sham - thanks.
Thanks for post. Change is difficult for many. We get set in our ways and like the easy and known path. I have read the book "Who Moved My Cheese" - many years ago (perhaps 20 years ago).. and great read. Change is important and necessary - but do the right change(s).
Happy to see this in Carol Williams Second Chance Saturday... I commented before, but am pleased to come back to day "great job," once more.
Good morning, Grant Schneider I'll never forget my first day online on ActiveRain....
